January 27Jan 27 11 points is ridiculously low regardless. I don't think most here are aware of the memes or whatever. (I wasn't until you mentioned!) Edited January 27Jan 27 by AllStarBySmashMouth

(I wasn't until you mentioned!)It’s the 15% deduction, though considering how low it is it wouldn’t have been much higher without it, but I’m not worried! And yeah idt anyone here cares about the discourse either lol, it’s just that I happened to tweet about geese once regrettably and now the algo thinks I want to see 15 tweet threads about them Edited January 27Jan 27 by dhwe
January 27Jan 27 Dan didn't actually give any deductions (not that there'd be much of a difference between 11 points and 13 points, deserved better regardless x)
January 27Jan 27 Re: ballads, I would count Father John Misty's Screamland as an indie ballad and that won. Also this was amazing. But yeah I vote for them fairly rarely.

January 28Jan 28 Ballads are very hit or miss (usually miss) tbh, any time I've tried with one it's DNQ'd so I think it's a really specific type of pop power ballad, female vocalist and a really hard hitting chorus for it to have an impact but I'm also probably not the best judge when it comes to a successful BJSC ballad 😂
January 28Jan 28 Sent 3 ballads ever and all 3 DNQ'd so unlikely to tread that path again.Although tbh my current entry could easily be an instrumental accompaniment to a ballad but I think if the song actually had vocals it just wouldn't be as good.
January 28Jan 28 There is a version of 'Solas' with vocals already so you can test that theory if you want!~repurposing this post for a belated Q streak update ~Qualification streak update (underlined nations have matched or beaten their longest streak to date, streaks that are longer when counting non-consecutive participations are in italics where applicable): 01 61 Hendinia (non-consecutive: 66) 02 26 Aeroche 03 23 Danæviia 04 21 Greenfroze 05 18 Neliönoir 06 17 Cor Lupus 07 16 Kluminican Republic 08 9 Land of DW 08 9 Zanmatony 10 8 Skall 10 8 Terra Avium 12 7 Mothertopia 12 7 POPHub 14 6 Fljótavík 14 6 Pestolia 16 5 Elëdan 16 5 Taahino 18 4 Séyetana 18 4 The Spodic Empire 20 3 Cumulonimbia 20 3 Sovarasma 22 2 Ajanaeda 22 2 Dalisska 22 2 Herbilore 22 2 Yehesi 26 1 Baleghde 26 1 Ben's Sanctuary 26 1 Bøtanikkä (non-consecutive: 2) * 26 1 Cheiron 26 1 Deandria 26 1 Dobago 26 1 Hushkanukia (non-consecutive: 2) 26 1 Jadakissnia 26 1 Jupiterdonia 26 1 Juranabaijan 26 1 Lotunia 26 1 Scotland 2 26 1 Summericia 26 1 Thelonia 26 1 Trifoski 26 1 Zephyra Continuum xx (10) FARC xx (10) FSR Rontvia xx (7) République d'Áskorza xx (6) Kathaldazia xx (5) Aelandor xx (4) Flynnonda xx (3) N DNTN (non-consecutive: 5) xx (2) A-Konohagakure xx (2) Lookylion xx (1) Aesthetica ** xx (1) Bronzil xx (1) East Rukahavian xx (1) Harmonica xx (1) Lentyll (non-consecutive: 2) xx (1) Ojnoj (non-consecutive: 2) xx (1) Pagasa (non-consecutive: 2) xx (1) Utopia (non-consecutive: 2) *** Bøtanikkä's mid-contest withdrawal from BJSC 180 is not counted as a DNQ for the purposes of this list** did not enter this contest so may resume a non-consecutive streak in the futureThe number of nations with double figure streaks falls by 2 as FARC and FSR Rontvia both DNQed this time after making it to every final in 2025 - the top 7 however all remain standing, with Hendinia expanding their national records to 61 consecutively and 66 non-consecutively, Danæviia, Greenfroze and Neliönoir each expanding their records to 23, 21 and 18 respectively staying in 3rd through 5th behind Aeroche, and Kluminican Republic now reaching 16 in a row for the first time (having previously managed 15 in a row both with their existing current consecutive record and with an earlier non-consecutive run in BJSCs 111-119 & 122-128). January 28Jan 28 Coward by Paperwing did well for me, finishing 8thalthough it is an orchestral ballad
January 28Jan 28 There was a ballad Mack sent and qualified with quite a while ago now. Does anyone remember it?
January 28Jan 28 You all talk about ballads in a long ago time, like when the Turks advanced on Austria. Edited January 28Jan 28 by Nine And ¾
