Meh this is a misrepresentation of what I raised with you. I said to you: "[there's] quite a few people who are confused by it". It wasn't a case of people feeling like they couldn't air it in the thread, just that they were wondering about it, which made me wonder if the "top 3 girls are given a bye" thing hadn't fully landed. That's why I brought it up with you, and why I posted, to find out what the consensus is. None of that is underhanded or intended as something for you to find to be a shame.

I don’t think it’s wild of me to assume that people may be unamused, yourself included, that the top 3 females advanced to Round 4 automatically? Hence why I added the preface for everybody in the event that others may have been feeling the same but haven’t said so in the thread; and providing an explanation for what’s happened and why. I saw a couple of questions/comments about it that had already been responded to by other people (and reactions to those posts received indicating an understanding) so didn’t feel the need to add to that beyond what I quoted from King Rollo to confirm why. Beyond that, nothing else had been raised.

I’m not going to have a go at anybody for feeling that way, that’s completely valid, but I’d rather concerns were flagged in here so that everybody participating has the opportunity to speak up and not just a select few. And then I can - and am more than willing to with some notice - make changes as the game goes along.

It feels underhanded that I responded to all of your points when we spoke and let you know that I likely wouldn’t be changing what’s happened now because it’s too late in the day for this round (will be a case of preparing each category’s thread when I’m home from work and beginning the round), yet all of this has happened today and is casting a cloud over things.

I genuinely don't get the problem given the unforeseen circumstances that led to the change up?? It's not like those 3 are progressing to the final and "side-eyeing those 3 artists" makes it look like you're putting blame on the people that sent them as well when all they did was do well in the first two rounds? 😂

Not to read as dismissive but it's really not this deep, it is just a game, we're in the early rounds so this change isn't really going to mess anything up, as I say, it's unlikely the top 3 of any of the categories (not just the women) will flop in this part so??

I hate that this has put a dampner on the boot camp rounds and I feel for Calum having to post like this on top of all the work he'll be doing behind the scenes.

I think we just draw a line under it and enjoy what's to come?? Maybe get a wee listen through scheduled to try and boost the vibe again 🤷🏼‍♀️

I can attest that Calum and I workshopped a load of potential ideas on how to proceed in the fairest way possible. I did mention that it was important not to render rounds 1 and 2 pointless for the ladies, so Calum came to a solution he felt was best. Someone dropping out wasn't in the plans which is totally understandable!

I know, from my perspective in the discussions (simply as an advisor), I was only thinking about the females, and not really whether it was fair for the male and group categories too, considering their numbers weren't affected. At this early stage with so many competitors still in, I'd argue it won't really make a difference anyway, it's just a small way of ensuring rounds 1 and 2 didn't go to waste.

Definitely eager to see what bangers there are served up this evening! I hope it's nothing but pure hits and big sounding party starters! 🥳

My intention wasn't to put a dampener on things. I'm pretty shocked that my original post discussing the "top 3 ladies" twist and asking for a consensus has spiralled like it has. Was what I wrote really that bad or disruptive, or a sign I was trying to make Calum feel bad?

I struggle considerably with anxiety and depression. I regularly overanalyse and overthink just about everything, to try and make sense of things in my poor brain, and this particular twist didn't make sense to me, and because I saw others say similarly, that's why I messaged Calum and then posted what I posted. Now I feel like I wish I'd not said anything at all and that I'm being interpreted completely wrong, and that's upsetting me.

Let’s just put this whole thing to bed and advance the bottom 3 from all the categories through instead.

I’ll be interested to see who sent Girlicious and Markus Riva when they’re revealed. Both were interesting choices and whilst I didn’t necessarily find them to my taste, I appreciated the choice you made send lesser known acts.

Hoping I get some growers in Boot Camp but on first listen one category is a lot stronger for me

I haven't read every single post in here but I'm aware that some stuff has 'broken out' since I withdrew and I just wanted to say again that I am really sorry for the part I played in creating an uncomfortable situation. I withdrew after much consideration and felt it was probably the right thing for me as I think I identified that I was about to get too overwhelmed. In other words, I caught it early and did something about it - which is a good thing in my case in general.

Like I said earlier, it's a lesson learned as I will be more mindful in future about taking on too much (unless it's something very important maybe).
