Rein Me In was meh at first and is now insufferably boring. So Easy has been insufferable since the first time I heard it. And DTMF is OK. Not a top 3 I'm particularly motivated for this Friday.

'have to.' was a single but had not charted before. A song called 'white noise.' charting which is not actual white noise (I assume) his last release in 2023 also landed 5 songs in the top 200 on day 1 but the highest was #142 so a slight improvement here.

Jamie T coming for his first chart hit since 2014, although maybe not quite following Kasabian in also getting a first top 40 since then (this is a lower debut than Fred's last release which fell a way short of the top 40 in the end).

It already is I think, there's not a chance it would be so high officially without the remix.

‘Landslide’ up on Spotify compared with this time last week. Could it end up becoming one of those songs that stays on SCR for a long time? It’s clearly not just The Stranger Things effect any more, and unlike the other ST songs is no longer in decline.

The hatred for ‘Rein Me In’.

At least it’s a song that’s genuinely connected with the public - it’s had no TV promo, no radio interviews, no official video apart from a tour one cobbled together, not had endless remixes/alternative versions, not been endlessly re-set to play the system and aside from an extreme limited edition 7” vinyl for RSD Black Friday they haven’t played the physical game either.

Talent wins.

I’m not a fan of the song, but I support you on this. To me it feels a bit bland, but I’m glad that a song, particularly one by British artists, has connected with the public - and grown in strength. It’s growing on me tbh but I’m not an Olivia Dean fan.

I think the point is: we’ve heard a lot of people moaning about this song and the moaning gets a bit boring after a while too.

(As does me talking about Fleetwood Mac all of the time now that Kylie and Wham! are out of the singles chart - but, like Rein Me In, FM keep growing in strength!)

Not my fav Sam track by any means but makes up for so many non top 40 hits before he built his fanbase that def deserved the attention!
