That's the last of my 7s gone - I gave scores of 8+ to 11 songs and 9 of them have made the top 10 here, feels quite surprising to be agreeing so much with BuzzJack ratings of pop girl songs cheeseblock (with the one major and expected exception).

I think my favourites to drop out are Never Leave You, Jenny From The Block and AM to PM, all pretty fun and iconic bops, top 10 is definitely largely correct though x

I think I slightly preferred When You Look At Me to AM to PM, but it's a fun and catchy track. I was familiar with Christina before this as quite liked her feature on Ja Rule's Between Me and You (and was aware she wrote Play by J.Lo).

When You Look At Me would probably be my favourite from her too. Dip It Low and Say I also fairly decent.

AM to PM was on the music channels ALL the time back then.

Great song but When You Look At Me is even better. Everything that came after was mostly guff though.

Maybe FAR too low angry Absolutely pop perfection and comfortably for me the best Spice solo single. (Yes, Mel C has some absolute bangers too).

And @lewistgreen is purely trolling at this point right? Lowest scorer for the last what, 3/4 tracks that are all actual DELIGHTS? lol

“AM to PM” is good but not brilliant - feels fair that’s missed the Top 10 to me. “Maybe” is easily my favourite to have missed.

No trolling at all! I don't hate the songs but don't like them either. It was a low period in pop for me oop.

10 Destiny's Child - Survivor

avg: 7.96

👑 Pop Royalty10 (leww, vibe, JosephStyles, Nina West), 9 (Scene, DaTilt, Lee_J11)

 Pop Flop5 (Padamic_Tension, Jessie Where), 6 (Roba.)

Destiny's Child put up a fight and survived into the top 10, with a 7.96 average.

Beyoncé Knowles was inspired to write 'Survivor' after the press compared her group to the TV show of the same name, due to their line-up changes. Original members LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett departed in 2000 and were replaced by Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin, with the latter also dropping out of the project. So the group's third studio album Survivor would be their first with the famous Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle line-up. Knowles also had some help from father and manager Matthew when writing 'Survivor', in addition to Anthony Dent, who also produced the track. The production is string-heavy and was originally created with Lil' Kim in mind, until Beyoncé ended up using it to help her write lyrics.

The song caused some controversy, as lines such as "You thought I wouldn't sell without you, sold nine million" resulted in former members LeToya and LaTavia filing a lawsuit against Beyoncé, Kelly and their former manager, due to a previous agreement that prevented them from insulting each other. It was later settled out of court.

'Survivor' is also memorable for having a dramatic Michelle Williams middle 8. The music video is equally eventful as the girls find themselves on an uninhabited island.

This single was a smash hit, becoming the second and final U.K. #1 for Destiny's Child to date. It could be found as track #7 on Pop Princesses.

'Survivor' found success and brought much happiness to leww, vibe, JosephStyles and Nina West - as they all gave it a 10. Meanwhile, we may have been taught better than to diss people on the internet, but Padamic_Tension and Jessie Where came the closest, as they gave this an average 5 each.

Not really a fan of 'Maybe' tbh. I find it a bit annoying overall. I'm surprised I wasn't in the lowest raters for it, but I was next in line with my score of 5. I probably should have rated it lower as I genuinely can't stand it and skip it when it comes on lol

'Survivor' is alright. Never loved it but never really disliked it either. Not a DC fave for me.

EDIT: Christina Milian is a BOP. She has better though as both 'Dip It Low' and 'Whatever U Want' are superior!

Also not a huge personal fave but it's quite iconic lyrically, with those lines reference by Jade, so it's fun to sing along to.

Quite ahead of its time as where exactly were people dissing each other on the internet in 2001, on early chatrooms presumably as social media wasn't a thing and forums were very primitive.

I've never thought about this until now! Good point! lol
