Each week (aiming for Sunday evenings) I'll post one of these polls and ask you all to select your favourites from the week's new entries in the UK Singles Chart top 100. Unlike the similar polls in the genre forums, this poll is multiple choice - I'll leave it to your discretion how you want to give votes, if you want to just vote for your favourite each week then go for it, if not you can vote for as many songs as you feel deserve a vote (I will encourage people to make sure they've actually listened to all of the songs before voting but I can't enforce that obviously x). There's also a 'none of the above' option if you want to put in a protest vote. And then feel free to post in the thread any rankings/ratings or general thoughts. The song with the most votes at the end of the week will be the winner.

Apologies for no poll again last week, let's get back up to speed ~ Week 12 was closely run as I thought it might be without an obvious frontrunner but the victor by 2 votes ended up being Philippines born British singer-songwriter beabadoobee with 'All I Did Was Dream Of You' featuring American band The Marías, a lovely blend of the pair's styles which presumably serves as a lead single to a yet to be announced 4th beabadoobee studio album. Noah Kahan fell just short of getting a second poll win of the year in the runner up slot, while SIENNA SPIRO and James Blake both got a respectable vote tally albeit finishing in a fairly distant joint 3rd. Poor brave Tre Reynolds was left in the dirt but was still saved by danG from being the second 0-voter of the year.

Full week 12 results:

1 22/41 beabadoobee - All I Did Was Dream Of You (feat. The Marías) (#60)

2 20/41 Noah Kahan - Porch Light (#19)

3 14/41 SIENNA SPIRO - The Visitor (#11)

3 14/41 James Blake - Doesn't Just Happen (feat. Dave) (#66)

5 1/41 Tre Reynolds - Don't Go (Don't Leave) (#97)

[1/41 none of the above]

Week 13's contenders:

BTS - SWIM (#2)

RAYE - Click Clack Symphony. (feat. Hans Zimmer) (#18)

BTS - Body To Body (#28)

BTS - FYA (#39)

FLO - Leak It (#45)

Chris Stussy - Wide Awake (feat. Tom Did It) (#46)

Luke Combs - Rethink Some Things (#71)

Niall Horan - Dinner Party (#72)

Temper City - Self Aware (#82)

Week 14's contenders:

RAYE - I Know You're Hurting. (#22)

Ye - FATHER (feat. Travis Scott) (#27)

Ye - ALL THE LOVE (feat. André Troutman) (#28)

Central Cee - WAGWAN (#31)

Ye - KING (#47)

Miley Cyrus - Younger You (#53)

The Long Faces - Jane! (#62)

Malcolm Todd - Earrings (#68)

Prospa and Cloonee - Free Your Mind (#71)

BTS - NORMAL (#74)

Chris Rainbow - Be Like A Woman (#98)

Another double bill to catch up this week and both have a reasonably healthy intake of 9 and 11 newies respectively, including each having a full trio of new entries from album bombs (neither of which I expect to greatly appeal to BuzzJack but for rather different reasons - more moral quandaries, hooray!) Both also have a RAYE song, while BTS also appear on both lists as they had a straggler fourth album track which leapfrogged their original third most popular track to debut in its second week (or to fall from #-1 to #74 according to the ever sound OCC website). Week 13 is all fresh releases but week 14 includes three older but newly viral tracks from three different decades (the Malcolm Todd song only a couple of years old but The Long Faces coming from the 2010s and Chris Rainbow plucked out of the 70s). Something tells me Rainbow might not do quite as well on this poll as the previous pre-Y2K winners from Fleetwood Mac and Jeff Buckley.

(as with weeks 9 & 10, the playlist contains all of the songs from both weeks)

Hall of Fame:

Week 1: Zara Larsson - Midnight Sun [29/49]

Week 2: Fleetwood Mac - Landslide [27/48]

Week 3: Bruno Mars - I Just Might [26/44]

Week 4: Jeff Buckley - Lover, You Should've Come Over [23/43]

Week 5: Harry Styles - Aperture [30/46]

Week 6: Noah Kahan - The Great Divide [21/44]

Week 7: sombr - Homewrecker [31/43]

Week 8: Charli xcx - Dying For You [23/43]

Week 9: twenty one pilots - Drag Path [20/40]

Week 10: Gorillaz - Orange County (feat. Bizarrap, Kara Jackson and Anoushka Shankar) [16/40]

Week 11: Harry Styles - American Girls [20/34]

Week 12: beabadoobee - All I Did Was Dream Of You (feat. The Marías) [22/41]

Week 13: just 'Click Clack Symphony.' for me. I voted for the Chris Stussy song in the DTotW poll pretty much by default, but have forgotten how it goes even after relistening. Week 14: voted for 'Ja

RAYE, FLO and Niall for the first week, just RAYE for the second. I'm surprised Niall is leading the vote for the first week, I would have thought FLO would easily take that!

Ye can go back to where he came from.

Week 13

  • BTS - SWIM (#2) - really lush chilled vibe to this, an impressive comeback with a sound i wasn't expecting from them

  • RAYE - Click Clack Symphony. (feat. Hans Zimmer) (#18) - a very engrossing single, lots to unpack here - definitely one to revisit!

  • BTS - Body To Body (#28) - enjoy the timbaland-esque production and catchy hooks

  • BTS - FYA (#39) - cringe Britney reference aside, it's 3 from 3 from them - fun track

  • FLO - Leak It (#45) - sounds pretty decent on first listen, deserves to outpeak the awful fly girl

  • Chris Stussy - Wide Awake (feat. Tom Did It) (#46) - oh this is a bit of a soft banger, enjoyed this a lot

  • Luke Combs - Rethink Some Things (#71) - wow this is such a strong week even a new luke combs song doesn't sound characteristically dreadful, still not quite vote-worthy though

  • Niall Horan - Dinner Party (#72) - sadly this one very much falls into the dull category

  • Temper City - Self Aware (#82) - pretty good, sounds like a mix between 21 pilots & that home song a few years back

Very strong week indeed! Voted BTS x3, RAYE, FLO, Chris & TC.

Week 14

  • RAYE - I Know You're Hurting. (#22) - similar vibe to nightingale lane, can appreciate its artistry but just not something i'd actively listen to

  • Ye - FATHER (feat. Travis Scott) (#27) - solid rap & production combination

  • Ye - ALL THE LOVE (feat. André Troutman) (#28) - this one is pretty limp however

  • Central Cee - WAGWAN (#31) - pretty solid effort from him this time, nice flow & vibe

  • Ye - KING (#47) - striking, in-your-face album opener, very much enjoyed this

  • Miley Cyrus - Younger You (#53) - very limp and rather cringey lyrics in parts

  • The Long Faces - Jane! (#62) - no idea why a random indie song from 2018 has charted but i like it, very unique-sounding vocal and chirpy instrumentation

  • Malcolm Todd - Earrings (#68) - eh, he's trying to go for the steve lacy style but it falls rather short for me

  • Prospa and Cloonee - Free Your Mind (#71) - always here for commercial success for prospa, this is one heck of a tune for good measure!

  • BTS - NORMAL (#74) - not on the level of their 3 entries from the previous week

  • Chris Rainbow - Be Like A Woman (#98) - we love a completely randomly entry from a decades-old song, no really this is great whatever/whoever it is!

Also strong! Voted Ye x2, Cench, LFs, Prospa & Chris.

Quite an interesting and varied couple of weeks. Went for:

Swim

Click Clack Synphony (song of the year so far)

Self Aware

I Know You’re Hurting

Father

Jane!

went for:

Click Clack Symphony

FYA smh

Leak It (soty)

Wide Awake

Dinner Party

I Know You're Hurting

Wagwan smh

Younger You

Free Your Mind

For Week 13 I went with Swim, Raye, Body to Body and Chris Stussy - latter is one of my favourite charting hits so far this year! Week 14 I went with Raye, Cench, Prospa and Chris Rainbow (how does TikTok find this stuff?) Hard to give an unbiased opinion on the Ye songs.

Week 13

  1. FLO - Leak It

  2. BTS - Body to Body

  3. Luke Combs - Rethink Some Things

  4. Chris Stussy & Tom Did It - Wide Awake

  5. BTS - Swim

  6. Temper City - Self Aware

  7. RAYE - Click Clack Symphony. (feat. Hans Zimmer)

  8. Niall Horan - Dinner Party

  9. BTS - FYA

Nothing really doing it for me this week. FLO would just about be the best. 'Dinner Party' is like Alex Warren with even less edge.

Week 14

  1. Kanye West - FATHER (feat. Travis Scott)

  2. Kanye West - ALL THE LOVE (feat. Andre Troutman)

  3. Central Cee - WAGWAN

  4. BTS - Normal

  5. Miley Cyrus - Younger You

  6. Prospa & Cloonee - Free Your Mind

  7. Chris Rainbow - Be Like a Woman

  8. RAYE. - I Know You're Hurting.

  9. Kanye West - KING

  10. Malcolm Todd - Earrings

  11. The Long Faces - Jane!

Judging purely on the music quality, I can see why those are the two Kanye tracks in the top 40. They're much better than anything from his last album and the third track here. 'WAGNWAN' is Central Cee's best for a long time.

'Normal' might be the best thing I've heard from BTS. I'm surprised that its not picking up any votes. I really don't like the vibe of 'Earrings'. He seems so smarmy lol.

Week 13: just 'Click Clack Symphony.' for me. I voted for the Chris Stussy song in the DTotW poll pretty much by default, but have forgotten how it goes even after relistening.

Week 14: voted for 'Jane!' Almost added RAYE again, but this one goes on a bit too long.

Click Clack Symphony

Leak It

I Know You’re Hurting

Younger You

The rest irdc about lol

Went for Niall Horan and RAYE in week one and the three Kanye songs in week two!

RAYE, Niall, and FLO - in that order - for the first week.

Just RAYE for the second week.

Brer rabbit leaping over weeks!

I look forward to this thread's return. Low top 100 entries are interesting these days.
