I think that was purely on technicality though. Since there was four versions of the songs that gained significantly - LAP album, Immaculate collection version, Celebration version and the choir version on D&W soundtrack.

The first 3 of those all contribute to the same tally, they wouldn't chart separately on Spotify. (And the choir version isn't even credited to Madonna on Spotify so I don't think it would have contributed to its chart position at all? There are other versions that don't count to the main version's tally on Spotify but they all do a tiny fraction of the main version in daily streams. Admittedly I do not remember the situation that well, I'd kind of forgotten the song re-charted at all)

Critics reviews for these kind of biopics (especially about someone widely regarded as the ULTIMATE star of their generation) won’t matter. ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ (which has mixed reviews) ended up being the biggest biopic of all time over well reviewed biopics like Walk The Line, A Complete Unknown etc..

Michael has a story that people are invested in for good or bad so I suspect people will be intrigued regardless!

Everyone knows MJ's story though. At least I do and have no intention to see that movie in cinema. Might stream depending where it will be available.

I am fully expecting it to do as well as Whitney’s or Bob Dylan’s - which is ok but not massive. Been a biopic overload since Bohemian Rhapsody in 2018, so don’t really think the public appetite is there now like it was then.
