She has billions of streams but has spent 12 weeks on Hot 100 in this decade. Not sure if GH is a good move at this point, because it doesn't bring any new streams, none of the songs will be more popular than they are now.

I know 2016 is seen as the darkest year for chart followers on this website but if you think about the charts that year it was pretty much ALL songs from that year which made it a much more realistic and accurate reflection of what was going on (especially since it was pre-ACR). I remembering thinking at the time at how impressively 'relevant' it looked despite its sluggish nature and let's be honest ACR hasn't fixed anything. Arguably now the charts are even more slower than they were then PLUS you have less room for actual new songs making a dent in the charts with the non-stop revivals of old to ancient music.

Just looking back to this exact week in 2016: Official Singles Chart on 13/5/2016 | Official Charts pretty much every single song in the top 40 was less than half a year old - we didn't know how good we had it! (the actual quality of course being subjective I hasten to add).

This week in 2016 saw Dua Lipa's first week in the top 100. How can anyone say the quality of 2016 music wasn't good? Now please release some new music, Dua!

That's a good move by Katy if it does become an eligible album to chart. Will keep her on the album charts for a while.... Plus possibly boost her songs further. Perhaps generate a sense of good will/nostalgia around her once again in prep for a new album campaign.

Katy could probably get a hit fairly easy if she and her team weren't constantly working against her with the decisions they've been making. A Max Martin lead single with a non-controversial producer would likely net her a moderate hit!

In the UK it won't affect TD. In the US it depends on which has better sales. I'd say it'll not affect TD there either beyond 1 or 2 weeks.

I mean, Teenage Dream is basically perennially in the charts as a pseudo Greatest Hits anyway so might as well add in the others not from that era.

UK allows streams to be double counted if they are going towards a studio album and a label nominated Greatest Hits so TD chart position should not be affected from streaming although pure sales may be dented somewhat if consumers opt to download /purchase GH over TD.

Her chart performance dosent correlate to her ‘giving up with new music’ though?

She’s passed her peak of instant smash hits etc,, but she’s still releasing.

I personally think a GH will do well for her - I’m sure if they push it a bit that it’ll join the list of long running GH’s on the charts.

It's also listed as an album on Amazon Unlimited, and has the same title so not just a Spotify playllist.

Will likely be hanging around the Top 20 for years then 🫠

It's charting on iTunes in Turkey and Mexico too so it's definitely an official release.
