Surprised how close Ariana still is to RMI. But I guess she has stablished on Apple and recovered on Spotify.

  • Shake It Off, Blank Space, Is It Over Now, Cruel Summer from the context... but I had to think about it, and I agree I wish people would stop using them, it's honestly not that hard to type song names

  • The way I have no idea what any of these acronyms mean. Can people please ease off them.

  • Neither does Sweet Caroline, or Freed from Desire - but they're hammered at every football opportunity 🤣

So definitely not seeing a return of rmi this week yas!

It was never in question - it’s in decline and it up against Taylor.

The surprising thing is that it’s still #2 despite some big hitters releasing over the past few weeks.

I think the key to prevent RMI from permanently returning to #1 in the future is not a weekly strong competitor to outsell them but for them to finally go onto ACR. They must surely hold the record for repeatedly dodging ACR at this stage?

Heatwave due next week, it'll probably avoid again

Michael Jackson has gained around 3k since Monday update and Niall only around 1800 so it will be tight for Niall to hold the number 1 but hoping he does.

MJ is down on last Wednesday and Niall has already outsold MJ's final total from last week.

I don't think she is cancelled, more like not popular any more.

I think it's fair to say she was kind of cancelled with those allegations around the time she had that Barbie track, and she hasn't really managed to recover from it.

Having said that, this is the first time I've been aware she actually has an album out this week!

They’ve added a extra download version to iTunes with bonus track - it’s currently full price but guessing they’ll discount it if they feel they need to.

Wait, I just realised that Lizzo's album isn't even showing up in the midweek top 100 o she's well and truly been cancelled, hasn't she?! (or are there no physicals or something?)

Zero hype.

Full Radio 2-only artist now and even there I think her new singles hang around the B or C-list for a few weeks before being dropped and forgotten forever.

Didn't mind that "don't you bullsh!t me, baby!" one.

But yeah, she's pop toast.

Had a look at the GUTS album release and these are the increases for the first two singles:

"Vampire" went from 31,032 to 43,651 sales (+~40%)

"Bad Idea Right?" went from ~19,500 sales to 34,758 (+~78%)

"the cure" did 35,675 and "drop dead" 23,488 last week. The former is down ~13.5% this week based on the mid-week Wednesday sales data which means it should be on track for ~31k come Friday.

It looks like sales-wise they'll be in a fairly similar position to the GUTS singles perhaps slightly better. These are the sales for "the cure" based on different % boosts for next week:

+40% - ~43.4k

+50% - ~46.5k

+60% - ~49.6k

+70% - ~52.7k

It'll need to do at at least ~45-46k to be in with a chance of #1 which it might do comfortably depending on how big a boost the album release gives the song. The other spanner in the work is if Olivia's single she is pushing alongside the album release is a big smash and claims the #1 instead!

Guessing that the label with push the song she’s done with Robert Smith from The Cure - I can imagine that being a streaming playlist favourite.

(it might also be the HMV exclusive 7” vinyl too as don’t believe they have announced what the vinyl single is yet).

This album is doing so badly that after 5 days it only has 1.7M global streams on Spotify, and there are already 8 tracks under 13k daily streams. It may not even chart in the US.

She never had a strong fanbase, many turned on her after the lawsuit, she doesn't have a hit this time and has had no label support since the former CEO of Atlantic was fired.

This'll be the first time that RMI hasn't been for #1 for two consecutive weeks since before it went to #1 🙏

Will also help it it's used once in context of the World Cup broadcast.

The gap between Taylor and Sam Dean grew because of the two additional versions. I think the gap will be around 4k on Friday.

Team Jeff Goldblum going for it to stay as high as possible - they’ve added some more personally signed albums, an instore signing and an intimate show at Banquet.

Not sure if its the uk but seeing plenty of pictures of people receiving their Taylor swift Toy story cds so they may have been dispatched already
