This is the first time I have seen ‘Gypsy’ chart, and likewise with ‘Don’t Stop’ though it has been there a couple of days now.

I think this is the highest I’ve ever seen ‘Little Lies’, and the multiple versions of ‘Everywhere’. And if there are multiple versions of ‘Everywhere’, there could well be multiple versions of the other songs lower down.

I like Fleetwood Mac as much as the next person but them being THIS successful compared to other 20th century groups just feels weird!

I agree. But when you listen to today’s music you realise how many of today’s (particularly female) artists are influenced by them. A lot of their music would not seem out of place if released today.

An Olivia Dean song came on when I was out, and I was sure it was Fleetwood Mac.

I went to see Stevie Nicks in Hyde Park last year, and the audience was such a cross-section of ages. Their music is timeless.

Fleetwood Mac are such a timeless, easy listen - I often have them playing in the background - there is something comforting about their music.

Also, I think partly it’s a reflection of the maturing streaming market - before it was driven by younger listeners now anyone and everyone seems to have a streaming subscription which has made more classics than ever hang around the charts.

Little Lies is my current fave from them, works as a mid tempo song in dj sets too. Hope it can re-enter the chart at some point.

I've always thought it was weird too. I'm used to it now, but if you asked me 10 years ago which artists from back then would go on to dominate the streaming charts like this they wouldn't have come to mind. The Beatles would've been my first guess, and many others before Fleetwood Mac.

I think it’s also because they were big, but not too big when they were originally popular, whereas The Beatles were everywhere for decades. A lot of the Fleetwood Mac songs that are charting didn’t chart well or at all originally

Well it's not like Rumours wasn't already one of the best selling albums of all time. But what have made them more special in recent years is the new appreciation to other songs as well, especially the Tango in the Night singles.

Also Elton John went from a has been in the 80s to one of the most acclaimed and best selling catalogue artists in 2010s (and got even NEW hits in the process).

First time I heard "Nothing breaks like a heart" I was so sure it was Mark Ronson and Stevie Nicks

Well it was obviously, but it only spent 1 week at #1 and the singles didn’t take off. I have older family members who only really know Dreams from that album. It’s not like The Beatles or ABBA were they were selling albums and singles and everyone knew every song. Norah Jones sold a lot of albums but I don’t think many people could name the songs that were on them!

They always struck me as being bigger in America at that time with Rumours, then it flipped again and Tango in the Night was more appreciated here than in America.

Yeah even from the early 2010's a lot of the songs that were omnipresent at the time don't stream that well now. Not always the case, but songs like Party Rock Anthem or Blurred Lines have shockingly low streams. And songs like Unconditionally by Katy Perry or Judas by Lady Gaga which were semi-flops when they came out get tons of streams now.

This, I’m convinced Buzzjack feel like they speak on behalf of the GP sometimes.

However much I love/hate a song I have to appreciate I’m not the deciding factor on its success.

For Man I Need and Rein Me In to be ahead of a slew of new releases and big acts shows it’s genuinely popular to the masses.

With TikTok seeming starting to take off with montages of Harry Kane with Rein Me In playing with a retitle of ‘Don’t KANE Me In’ too I’m sure that’s helping.

I’m more surprised that even with RMI in decline week on week there’s nothing strong enough to overtake it.

No one is disputing that. It's just boring. As are the 500 posts defending it every week and closely tracking its every move for months on end.

Mind I will take 'Rein Me In' being back yet again over Taylor somehow ratfucking her way to a third week while she is so far seemingly not getting a boost at all from the film coming out (it's actually down a place to #30 on Spotify today...)
