This is giving Troye Reed xcx and I adore it. Love the references and spoken word, incredible production, and the video is fab. Nicole Kidman in a video about gays obsessing over women? Of course

I got the same feeling the first time I heard 'Summer Girl' by Haim, that end of summer, coming-of-age sound is really special 🖤

I can understand why this is polarising but I love it too. The soundscape scratches the itch in my brain that stans 'Drinking In L.A.' by Bran Van 3000

I'm really underwhelmed by this. The vibe is quite nice but I'm not here for it just being spoken word the whole way through. It's giving album intro but not lead single to me

I dont like this at all. Spoken word songs don't hit and it just sounds bad.

I have been listening to it all morning. That nineties California sound, almost New Radicals, and the spoken word is pure crack to me. Hear some Baz Luhrmann here too x

I would’ve immediately predicted that Blacksquare would love this and much of the pop forum would not.

It’s gonna take a bit of time for me to get into this, I think. I feel like, over time, Troye has started to use his voice less and less to the point we’ve now reached where he’s just talking, and even though I don’t think he has the best voice, he can utilise it very well and it has its own standout quality. I also think he’s usually a killer for an immediately hooky melody but that didn’t hugely jump out to me here either.

So, I like the soundscape and I think it’s an interesting development for sure but I’m not sure I’m completely on board with him also declaring the dancefloor is dead and now we’re making Music, Fashion and Film by gays.

What is this? If this would not be Troye, no one would care. Really bad.

I love the spoken verses, I love the music, I love the video.

It's a thumbs up from me, though I am instantly aware that it's completely different from Rush.

This is where I am with it atm too. It’s not a complete miss for me but it’s definitely going to take me more time to get into this than it usually does for him, for me.

I do hope we have some gorgeous, straight forward melodies on his album though. I think he excels incredibly at those and Rob is right in regards to how he is usually able to utilise his voice wonderfully and perfectly for what his voice can do.

Yeah, this is something that if someone would have told me Troye was going to do, I was going to say: "No, of course". Although this seems to polarise and I agree with this sentiment, I'm intrigued to see what the sound of the rest of the album will be. Is this only an introduction? Are the rest of the songs like this? Are they going to be different? Too many questions, I guess...

I like it and it makes sense for Troye to go in his arty-farty bag as he's never really going to have a hit
