Obviously the lead story on the BBC1 News At Ten. Special programmes from 10.40. Here I Am followed by Dolly At The BBC at 12.10.

Expect BBC4 tributes on Friday too.

Such sad news, the queen of country, a true legend, and seemed like a thoroughly decent and very fun person. RIP.

literally gutted. she was inspiring for almost everyone out there and was just such a pure soul. it hurts more that she had so much more she wanted to do in life as she said 4 days ago.

Now being reported she passed away from a short battle with cancer

RIP Dolly

A terrible loss! Dolly was one of the very last people in the world that was seemingly liked by everyone, and no one ever has a bad word to say about her. To grow up with almost nothing and become one of the world's biggest entertainers is truly remarkable. Although her absence will very much be felt, her legacy will outlive her for generations if not centuries to come <3

While I never saw Dolly in person, I can say my very first roller coaster ride was at Dollywood!

Wow she has 15 out of Top 20 on US I-Tunes.

My favourite Dolly song.

Incredibly sad news! She was an absolute icon and a true legend. The Queen of Country.

I stumbled upon this video today of her thanking Nottingham for the launch of the ‘Imagination Library’ which is a charity she created.

The way she says “Ay UP Mi Duck” has taken me out! Lmaoooo. Incredible. Icon.

This doesn't feel real, I genuinely thought she'd be someone who would outlive all of us. I don't think there'll be anybody like her ever again - her heart always shone through with the work she did to build up communities and minorities and she served as an inspiration to so many of our faves who wouldn't be around if it wasn't for her.

Cancer is such a horrific disease. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. This is coming from someone who witnessed their mum dying of cancer.

I've been looking at her Wikipedia page today and I was gobsmacked to see that she only had 2 top 10 singles in the UK, Jolene and Islands in the stream! I mean I thought 9-5 was a #1 but that in fact didn't even go top 40! 🤯 [#47].

All in all she charted 12 songs on the top 100!

However something which IS quite impressive, she has achieved a top 75 hit in every decade since the 70's, two each in the 70's, 80's, 90's and then 1 in the 00's, 10's and 20's. cheeseblock

I remember when Dolly's 2003 song "Go To Hell" became a meme 20 years later in 2023.
