#23 (-15) Wham - Last Christmas!

#35 (-25) Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is

These two definitely holding up better than any of the other Christmas songs. On Amazon ‘Last Christmas’ is now climbing again, and on Apple it is comparatively steady (43) whilst Mariah seems to be falling away (150)

  • A Sunday is as perfect conditions as Christmas songs will get for 1st November. Last year 1st November was a Saturday and a lot of people will have also been doing belated Halloween parties I expect.

Looking forward to ‘UNETHICAL’ peaking high on the w/end Jan 18th!

Kinda odd for how big Babydoll (Jamie Miller’s) is, there hasn’t really been a trickle down effect on his back catalogue. His two next more popular songs have only increased by 20k daily streams on Spotify in the past four weeks. There has been a new track teased on his TikTok that’s had a decent amount of fan demand so I imagine that will probably be the next single in January after Christmas, probably followed quickly by an album.

A new all time high for Cowboys and Angels on November 2nd on Spotify Global

716.003k streams 🤩(merged)

I’m excited that (UK artist - and former Junior Eurovision contestant) Freya Skye might be coming for her first UK top 40 hit! I really do think she’s one to watch.

Spotify have put her at number 18 on Christmas Hits - it’s the top SCR track there (or at least will be by December when Laufey and Sabrina Carpenter hit permanent ACR).

It’s also number 1 on ‘New Music Holiday’ and number 2 on ‘Spotify Singles: Holiday Collection.’

Hopefully it does as well as Kesha’s ‘Holiday Road’ did last year.

Massive new peak for Faouzia! Still keeping my fingers crossed that she can make the top 40 this week. But I do feel it’s down to how much impact there is from Halloween.

Globally ‘Last Christmas’ increased from Sunday to Monday: the main version made marginal declines, but all 4 other versions increased, particularly the Pudding Mix.

Whoever said that the Pudding Mix has gone viral is clearly correct - it had a daily increase of 15%.

Globally Wham! had a 22% lead over Mariah on Monday (2.123 million (up from 2.109 million) v 1.723 million (down from 1.936 million)) - when counting all versions - unheard of previously at this time of year!

With this in mind, I estimate its Tuesday streams in UK were over 170k - putting it above ‘Boston’ - which would put it around 16.

would think christmas is fading out but it'll probably start to stabilise now and creep back up after.

Hi everyone, Sam Clegg here 😊 With the Christmas advert discussion, I hoped it would be okay to share a little about my charity single and film, The Present.

It was shaped by my own feelings of loneliness and sadness, and wanting to turn those feelings into something that might help other people feel less alone, particularly older people at Christmas.

I’m an independent artist without a label or corporate backing. I write and sing my own songs, and direct, film and edit the videos myself. It’s currently No. 5 on UK iTunes, and I’m so grateful to everyone who has given it a chance.

Every penny I receive from sales is split equally between Re-engage and Friends of the Elderly. I know you’re passionate about music and the charts, as I am, so I thought I’d introduce myself. Getting a little further up the chart could help more people discover the campaign and support the charities.

If the song connects with you, a download on iTunes or Amazon costs less than £1. You can watch the film and find the links here: samclegg.com/thepresent

Thank you for reading, and to anyone who has already listened or supported it ❤️

Would they reset Step Into Christmas though? They didn't reset Band Aid when the 40th anniversary version was released

It won't be reset but if Alexa spams it enough along with the original it could beat Wham for a week anyway

Yes, as the song itself is not a non-ism exclusive so would also have streams from other platforms

Rather than 'Last Easter' again yep! @Meekul
