Posted Monday at 20:004 days It's SoundClash! In this event we celebrate the one hit wonders of the 21st century so far.In each round, two songs will go head to head to come out on top, with each credited artist only having a single UK Top 40 hit to their name. In each case, you're voting for your favourite song. The winning songs will then go into a grand collection of one hit wonders to be voted for once the opening rounds are complete. These are the two songs going head to head this round;Empire Of The Sun – We Are The People {#14, 2009} 🇦🇺Empire of the Sun are an Australian electronic music duo consisting of Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore, formed in 2007. They achieved international success with their debut album Walking on a Dream.Martin Jensen – Solo Dance {#7, 2017} 🇩🇰Martin Jensen is a Danish DJ and record producer who rose to international prominence with his infectious blend of tropical house, dance-pop and electronic music. You Decide! Here is what we have had so far in this series of SoundClash;Iglu & Hartly vs. ALMAVanessa Amorosi vs. Ten WallsDivine Inspiration vs. Kent JonesNewton Faulkner vs. Bridgit MendlerAndreas Johnson vs. Nico & VinzDB Boulevard vs. GraceLittle Jackie vs. Wynter GordonO-Zone vs. Dynoro & Gigi D'AgostinoThe Bravery vs. Alex ClareEsmée Denters vs. SecondcityATC vs. Christine And The QueensMini Viva vs. Charlie BrownKhia vs. Daisy Dares YouAndrew W.K. vs. KarminDaniel Powter vs. Rachel PlattenLittle Trees vs. Foster The PeopleLee Mead vs. Keala SettleSpecial D vs. Otto KnowsParis Hilton vs. D'BanjZoë Birkett vs. HurtsMetro Station vs. Vance JoyDJ Pied Piper & The Masters Of Ceremonies vs. OMISara Bareilles vs. Alyssa ReidDana Rayne vs. McleanAlizée vs. Portugal. Monday at 20:214 days Wouldn't say I'm huge on either but like them at least. Will go for 'We Are The People' though as the tropical house sound is very of it's time but I did enjoy 'Solo Dancing'
Monday at 20:284 days Author This was the first SoundClash where I had to do a double take because I was certain Empire Of The Sun were a two hit wonder, but it seems Walking On A Dream, which I consider to be more superior and memorable, charted well outside the Top 40.Martin Jensen did have that song with James Arthur too, but it missed the Top 40 too.
Monday at 21:004 days Easily Empire Of The SunThat Solo Dance track is utterly risible, and everything I hated about that trend at the time.
Monday at 21:064 days This one’s pretty even but gone for Solo Dance, if it was Walking On A Dream it would be a TOTALLY different story!
Monday at 21:114 days 100% We Are The People (Solo Dance is devoid of any qualities good or bad) but wish Empire Of The Sun's biggest hit here would've been The Spins instead
Monday at 21:144 days We Are the People may very well be the objectively better song but I have a big soft spot for Solo Dance as one of the better songs to come out of that whole tropical dance trend so voting it to make WATP’s victory slightly less one sided
Tuesday at 08:403 days Solo Dance is incred probably my fave big trop house songI wasn't a fan of We Are The People for a good while after it came out but I don't mind it so much these days.
Tuesday at 14:533 days 'Solo Dance' came on shuffle a couple of weeks ago and I actually forgot how fun it is! 'We Are the People' is infinitely better though. I actually thought 'Walking On a Dream' went Top 40 too, it's definitely stood the test of time despite missing out! Empire Of The Sun really remind me on MGMT in the way they were both breaking through at the same time-ish, had a few big Radio 1 hits (not quite managing massive success in the chart) and then faded off just as quickly.
