I don't think Adele's mentor could have played this round better fwiw. As dan said, it was either out of HG or SFTTR and I know what original I'd rather keep for later.

Or an unofficial remix, as there are a lot of good ones out there. I quite liked this remix of Hometown Glory though personally.

I think some acts were really at a disadvantage here though and don't have any club bangers so their hand was forced to play remixes of songs that were maybe originally ballads, or at least had a much lower tempo. While 'candlelight' mixes of dance songs always work really well for me, I find dance remixes of ballads or mid-tempo songs can sound a bit naff sometimes because of the singer's intonation on a ballad/lower tempo track not matching the pace and energy of a remix so just sounding a bit 'will this do', unless it is heavily spliced up and reconstructed.

You really need to be so versatile as an artist to make it through all the themed rounds unscathed, with a good arsenal of slower and faster songs, strong album tracks and fillers, bops etc, but then that's the beauty of Pop Factor. I'd rather go out on a themed round where I gave it my best shot with what was there, than in a free choice round where I picked the wrong song.

For what it's worth, this is my favourite Adele remix, turning Easy On Me into a late 80s style production, but it's not official and the remixer didn't get permission to release it so it's not on Spotify etc. Also it's still very slow so wouldn't have fit the spirit of the round.

I was obsessed with the Moto Blanco remix of Set Fire To The Rain back in 2011. It led to me spending ages trying to find a good dance remix of Someone Like You or Rolling In The Deep, but I never found one.
