Yep, in a few years they will not be able to go top 40. Main reason: high sales! Secondary reason: everyone will have these songs!

But sales increases so much due downloads that is more difficult for an old song to chart (exception for X-factor related songs). Last year, those songs were higher. Next years, they will keep charting but lower and lower until they won't be able to go top 40, imo.

It was for charity to be fair, but I think the point was that it was sticking two fingers up to Simon Cowell, saying that people would rather listen to silence than X Factor singles. Despite the flopping, I still think it's a better campaign than Surfin' Bird, which is pretty much pointless.
