Can someone tell me what Chart Numbers actually is? I stopped listening to the charts ages and ages ago 'cos I was sick of all the talking by Reggie/reading out texts/interviews etc.

I just follow this thread now for the charts.

I think this is the first R1 DJ campaign that resulted in a top 40 hit since Chris Moyles got John Barrowman's version of I Made It Through The Rain to #14 in 2009. Still can't believe that actually happened.

Scott Mills did a campaign in 2006 to get the TERRIBLE Chaccaron Maccaron by El Chombo into the top 40 and it go to #20 :D

Dirty Talk is becoming a bit of a sleeper hit. I hope it is used in some TV programme sometime and it can re-peak.
Dirty Talk is so catchy. This song would deserve a higher chart position.

They basically get someone entirely random to say what their favourite number between 1-40 is, and then listeners have to guess who's voice it is.

Lady GaGa is a dance-pop singer from New York City. Born Stefani Germanotta in Yonkers in 1986, she attended the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU while performing at open-mic nights. A collaboration with rapper/producer Akon led to her signing with Interscope Records, which released her debut album THE FAME in October 2008. She scored a number one hit and a Grammy nomination with "Just Dance," which topped the charts in several other countries, but The Fame truly exploded in 2009 thanks to the single "Poker Face." By 2010, Gaga was one of the biggest stars in the world, aided by her new EP The Fame Monster and its single "Bad Romance." - HMV

Chart numbers needs to go seriously. It's pathetic tbh. And I thought Radio 1 are against overplaying songs. And they said they wouldn't certain artists every week because they can leave them up to radio stations to play. Yet they go and play the most overplayed song of the entire year?

It's In the Top 40 - they should be playing all of the top 40. regardless of whether they've been around one week or 100 weeks.

They get a celebrity (celebrity status varies) to say a number in a weird voice and people text in who they think it is. Yes, it's that retarded.

Chris Moyles also did a campaign for Billie Piper's Honey To The Bee which got to #17 and I think he did another one as well. And I think Scott Mills campaigned David Hasselhoff's Jump In My Car all the way to #3... not sure if that was just the campaign or if it was also a proper release that week though.

Love this song!! Gaga! I've loved all her singles/promo singles from BTW so far, my favourites in order though are...

1. Hair

2. Judas

3. The Edge Of Glory

4. Born This Way

They basically get someone entirely random to say what their favourite number between 1-40 is, and then listeners have to guess who's voice it is.

That makes it sound much classier than it actually is

So the quick survey indicates that Run the World is $h!t and Dirty Talk brilliant

Right...

No, both are $h!t lol

Wow. Sounds fun.

This is growing on me... I do hope it climbs back up and can secure a new peak with the video.

This tbh. I like both, but Run the World at least diversifies the chart. But these people championing Dirty Talk, The Edge of Glory, etc. like that are responsible for what we've got now as our chart. :(

The Edge of Glory looks like a future #1 in the US though! :o

I can agree with that.

Yay! Dirty Talk!!

Now THIS sounds the same as everything else in the chart. But it is very catchy. :kink: :D

But we can let her off with it as 'Dirty Talk' was around before basically all the songs in the chart this week that sound similar.

I am glad TEOG is not falling too fast, hope it doesn't fall too fast before the video release!
