Going back many years, Jungle Rock by Hank Mizell made the top ten in 1976 after a campaign by Noel Edmonds. You will have heard it if you've been watching the TOTP repeats on BBC4.

Nicola hasn't even beaten Nadine's peak :o Shame as BOMD is much better than Insatiable. But that's not saying much.
Happy to see that Nadine ending up beating Nicola. "Beat of My Drum" is really painful to listen to. This will be my first time of sitting through the entire song and I'm already hating it. :puke2:
I thought, she can reach TOP20...
This tbh. I like both, but Run the World at least diversifies the chart. But these people championing Dirty Talk, The Edge of Glory, etc. like that are responsible for what we've got now as our chart. :(

The Edge of Glory looks like a future #1 in the US though! :o

But The Edge of Glory is very different! It's wonderfully 80s featuring the sax legend Clarence Clemons.. There are much much much more generic songs around.

But we can let her off with it as 'Dirty Talk' was around before basically all the songs in the chart this week that sound similar.

I am glad TEOG is not falling too fast, hope it doesn't fall too fast before the video release!

Yeah. Dirty Talk is incredibly old (as are Bass Down Low and I Need a Dollar).

This Nicola Roberts song is refreshing. :)

It's actually INTERESTING, so I know everybody here will hate it...

Gaga probably killed any singles success this era by releasing 'Judas' so soon after Born This Way, and then 'Edge of Glory' the minute the video for 'Judas' came out. It probably didn't help that BTW and Judas got released midweek, too. Now Judas is dead (and flopped in the US) and unless the video for EOG boosts it back to the top ten, that'll probably just underperform, too.

Gutted this entered below Nadine, but then again I'm still gutted that Nadine wasn't top 20 :(
So the quick survey indicates that Run the World is $h!t and Dirty Talk brilliant

Right...

indeed :D

ouch, bit of a flop for Nicola, lower than Nadine :o shame I do actually quite like it, I'm not sure why but I do

This is the first time I've heard Nicola's song. I like that it doesn't just sound like a GA reject but it's not really my thing.
Oh Poor Nicola, had hoped Top 25 at least. Hope it can climb when the promo actually kicks in
