September 9, 201114 yr Woah at Joe - I wonder if this will continue to sell well and into the Christmas market - its shocking really - wonder if it will outsell Olly's 2nd album :D And Sats down to 3! Maroon 5/ Caggy did manage to recover the 12-15k gap! Edited September 9, 201114 yr by ElectroBoy
September 9, 201114 yr Why are you so shocked about Joe's album going up? If you read the various posts on here and on DS you will see that Tesco and Asda both seriously understimated his appeal to the older record buying public - such as me! It is a delightful album from a lovely young man who will, no doubt, go on to bigger and better things. And he even says he does write songs a little.

It is a delightful album from a lovely young man who will, no doubt, go on to bigger and better things. And he even says he does write songs a little. I'm not trailing through 15 pages of Sats/Pixie/Leona crap this week looking for info on other artists :P Plus even if there is a stock shortage, it is still shocking when you think a year ago everyone thought he would never release/ sell well again - and he was in effect on the Pop scrapheap
September 9, 201114 yr I think Joe will climb even higher by sunday he was on Alan Titchmarsh yesterday ( which is his target audience) and he was on qvc this morning and apparently he sells really well on there. His adverts are on tv every night and prime time so i wont be surprised when he climbs :D
September 9, 201114 yr Sorry, I misunderstood you. And when I said "read through the posts on here" I meant the pop forum too. I would say "surprise" is a more appropriate word than "shock". Well done him!
It would have been hilarious if they had, but it turns out the gap was never that big to begin with. Any Maroonina no.2 :cheer: shame it has no chance of no.1 AGAIN. I can't believe the two best albums in the chart (Maroon 5 and Foster the People) are languishing between 31 and 40.
September 9, 201114 yr Plus even if there is a stock shortage, it is still shocking when you think a year ago everyone thought he would never release/ sell well again - and he was in effect on the Pop scrapheap The thing is though, we don't know how he would have sold had he released a pop album on his new label, he may well still have been on the pop scrapheap as you put it :) This time it's a whole different ball game, an album of classics appealing to the older music buyer and right off the back of his win on the tv show. A bit like shooting fish in a barrel and top marks for his label knowing just how to market him . :D It'll be interesting to see if he stays with this genre or tries his hand at pop again.
September 9, 201114 yr Author Thanks for all your contributions this week and your comments, 1D have got it in the bag for next week, Matt Cardle after that most likely and than the X Factor charity track, there seems to be a theme going... X Factor all the way till Xmas... joy... :drama:
September 9, 201114 yr I suspect part of the deal when Joe won PopStar To Opera Star included an album and ITV advertising. There's been loads of ads this week as well as other promo. They seem to have targeted this week for sales more than the first two unless just got their act together better now. I'm pleased he's doing well reaching his audience this time around, Syco were useless with him.

X Factor all the way till Xmas... joy... :drama: :arrr: I also hate how smug X Factor are about it. At the start they even said something like 'Ex X Factor acts are dominating the charts' or something then played clips of 'Heart Skips a Beat,' 'She Makes Me Wanna' and 'Swagger Jagger.' -_- Though it's nice to see that Pixie or Maroon 5 are set to be number #1 and Leona will probably be at #4. I'm not so sure Cowell will be too impressed with that and the X Factor can't boast about one of their acts being #1 on this week's show or next week's show. ^_^ But yeah, that will be shortlived what with One Direction, Matt Cardle and then the charity single... Although Matt Cardle could do a Joe McElderry I guess and miss the #1 spot with the first proper single.
September 9, 201114 yr If only Maroonina could outsell Pixie as well, both "Moves like Jagger" and "All fired up" deserve to chart higher ! And I'm well impressed by Joe. It is quite obvious now that he's gonna have huge sales by the end of the year, if it sells loads now, it will sell even more around Christmas with everyone buying it for their mums and grand mums. I wouldn't even be surprised if it's in the top 3 of the Christmas week. I like the boy so I don't really mind, but I'm not too fond of the concept of his new album, not really worthy of big sales ...
September 9, 201114 yr There's potential for Joe to be 3 by Sunday too.. he has gone a full thousand ahead of Beatles and cut Guetta's lead from 2k to 1k in a day... who knows. Good for him! Pixie 69.5k, Maroon 5 56.6k, Saturdays 53k. So the Saturdays will at least clear Missing You and hopefully get around 65k - would that outdo Just Can't Get Enough? From memory I think it just would :D

September 9, 201114 yr Moves Like Jagger is going to become the Empire State Of Mind/ Love The Way You Lie of 2011... A track that sells loads and stays top 5 for ages without actually getting to #1. (That would also mean that Christina Aguilera will record a 'part II' version for her album release next year.) :kink:

September 9, 201114 yr So pleased for Christina5 it must be on nonstop on R2.I thought some people were claiming that the Saturdays had 2 in the bag, not sure why they can never hold onto a lead they do more promotion than everybody.Pleased for Joe and did not see that coming he really has shown 2 fingers to smug Cowell.

I imagine total sales for the Sats, probably looking around 60k to 65k for the week, Pixie close to 80k, and Maroon 5 probably around 75k-ish, pretty close when you think about it more.
