September 7, 201114 yr I really hope 1D dont get #1. I like x factor, but its starting to take the piss with the x factor acts getting a number one, and then just dissappearing. Abandon all hope. One dimensional will be number one, probably with the biggest .sales of the year
September 7, 201114 yr I think joe has done much better than anyone ever expected, hopefully it can maintain a decent chart run now and build up even more decent sales. His sales are far from impressive. Even if he does better than the expected 30k total (!) his sales should be low for both him and his company imo. (like all XF acts) I fully expect him to suffer a big decrease in the coming weeks like 50-70%
September 7, 201114 yr How do they get a number one and then just disappear? Think JLS & Olly Murs, Diana Vickers is working on new material, Joe McElderry has had a successful album recently etc But I do agree that Syco/Simon Cowell do focus on the most recent contestants, in terms of promotion. No I mean, they have a number one and plummet. JLS do it all the time, Olly Murs flopped without the buzz or x factor performance, except for this new single, and well Diana, Dropped out of the top 40 in six weeks from number one, TBWML had one week at 36, and my wicked heart at 3 weeks in the top 100 after peaking at 13?! Not to mention Cher Lloyd, Leon Jackson, Shane Ward, Alexandra Burke.

Not to mention Cher Lloyd, Leon Jackson, Shane Ward, Alexandra Burke. That's because all their songs are held back for ages though. Pretty much any song will debut at its peak and then fall down the chart if you hold them back for 3 months and have them all over the radio during that time. Even big hits like California Gurls and Pass Out had that happen to them. And The Boy Who Murdered Love had 2 weeks at its peak I think, whilst My Wicked Heart's 3 weeks int he top 100 wasn't too much of a surprise, considering the whole promotion campaign of the song seemed to be one performance on X Factor and a music video being uploaded to VEVO. Don't think I heard it on the radio anywhere, even once. Some X Factor related songs that haven't been held back have managed to be big hits though. For example, One Shot, Eyes Wide Shut and All Night Long. They were all post-album singles, so essentially on air, on sale releases. They didn't peak high, but I'd say they were decent-sized hits overall, and they had lengthy chart runs.
September 8, 201114 yr  His sales are far from impressive. Even if he does better than the expected 30k total (!) his sales should be low for both him and his company imo. (like all XF acts) I fully expect him to suffer a big decrease in the coming weeks like 50-70% By Wednesday this week (yesterday!) Joe's album sales had already exceeded the expected 30k total. More in the region of 36,000 approximately. Also it has been discovered that Tesco hadn't stocked many copies and someone from the store tweeted that there had been a massive amount of requests for the album so they were rushing copies to all their stores. Of course Joe is not now an "X-Factor act"! Obviously someone wasn't keeping their finger on the pulse at Tesco! Edited September 8, 201114 yr by Compton
September 8, 201114 yr I tink Joe's sales are impressive, even if only because it's extremely rare for a reality show act to have a bigger second album, but also because there's been pretty much no promo for this album whatsoever and it's still crushing 'Wide Awake' sales-wise (it'll probably overtake WA's total by next week at the latest!)
September 8, 201114 yr I am not sure that this album has had no promo - I think that Universal have been excellent in promoting Classic. He has been on BBC Breakfast, Daybreak (performance), Something for the Weekend, Celebrity Juice, This Morning (performance) and loads of others. He is on the Alan Titchmarsh Show today and Family Fortunes on Saturday. He has also done an extensive radio tour. Much more than he did for Wide Awake.
September 8, 201114 yr not forgetting the tv advert i seen on numerous occasions Absolutely. However, I have never, ever seen it! I do watch ITV but I am in the south and it seems we are neglected in that instance. :(

September 8, 201114 yr really hope will young's album goes back into the top 5 by the end of the week. i am amazed joe mcelderry has climbed back into it at will's expense
September 8, 201114 yr WOW at Joe overtaking Will!! Expect a No.3 on Sunday for the Saturdays, kids. I'd say yesterdays figures were correct while Tuesdays unfortunately had errors, as we're now seeing Pixie at 60.8, Saturdays at 47.4 and M5 at 45.8

I'd say yesterdays figures were correct while Tuesdays unfortunately had errors, as we're now seeing Pixie at 60.8, Saturdays at 47.4 and M5 at 45.8 Oh right, in that case I would like to apologise to T Boy for what I said on Tuesday - obviously Maroon 5 were a lot closer than we were led to believe and therefore will quite obviously be #2 on Sunday.
September 8, 201114 yr I don't think there is a need to apologise, the figures were clearly quite badly out!

September 8, 201114 yr really hope will young's album goes back into the top 5 by the end of the week. i am amazed joe mcelderry has climbed back into it at will's expense This is probably because Tesco seriously underestimated Joe's appeal and hardly had any albums on the shelves. After Twitter campaign (or rather someone asking them on Twitter) Tescos admitted that they had got it wrong and were rushing the album out to all their stores. No idea have they?
