It won't be for much longer. RITD will overtake Grenade in the long term.

Eventually, not until well into next year given there's still almost 100k between them.

thats right then was it in january they got rid of the rule when you could release a dload only a week before the cd?

love most of the 2006 retro, it was when the singles chart was really starting to make its comeback and this would be crowned a year later with massive top 2 sales for bleeding love and rule the world - its increased even more since then!! :D

No, it was in March/April as the first song to benefit from it was Gnarls Barkley - Crazy.

has radio 1 playlisted fly yet?think its got a release on oct 17th!!
Aah, I'm so pleased that 'Fly' is in the top fourty - I've loved all the singles from Nicki's album (and the album itself), so I'm glad she's continuing her streak of hits; hopefully it'll go top twenty soon though :D

was it not the start of a year when chasing cars and all re-entered the top 40 when ALL downloads began to be counted?

It was... last week. It's quite impressive that it held on.

oh OK

Fly seems OK on first listen, Rihanna's not great with the long notes though

Lady GaGa is a dance-pop singer from New York City. Born Stefani Germanotta in Yonkers in 1986, she attended the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU while performing at open-mic nights. A collaboration with rapper/producer Akon led to her signing with Interscope Records, which released her debut album THE FAME in October 2008. She scored a number one hit and a Grammy nomination with "Just Dance," which topped the charts in several other countries, but The Fame truly exploded in 2009 thanks to the single "Poker Face." By 2010, Gaga was one of the biggest stars in the world, aided by her new EP The Fame Monster and its single "Bad Romance." - HMV

No. Chasing Cars came out after Mar/April 06 change - you are confusing the rule change in Jan 07 when the rule of removing songs a week after the physical was deleted was removed.

'Fly' is okay but by no means Nicki's best.

The Edge Of Glory is only 2 weeks away from matching Born This Way's top 40 weeks, it could overtake and become the longest-lived BTW single if it gets used on X Factor again!

18 weeks in the top 40, impressive. How many did "Born This Way" and "Judas" do?

Born This Way 20 weeks

Judas 11 weeks

Hair 1 week :P

'Fly' reminds me of that 'Rocketeer' song by Far East Movement.
I'm shocked at GaGa's longevity for this :o It's been in for too long imo. I predict You And I to have a low peak but be around for AGES too

I hardly ever review the retro top 10s but here goes:

2010

01. (-) Alexandra Burke Ft Laza Morgan - Start Without You

Is it really 12 months since 'Start Without You' hit the #1 spot. If I'm not mistaken it would've been this week a year ago when the media went into a Barlow & Williams frenzy with their single 'Shame', and I still think had it been released OA/OS the week after it could've been no. 1 meaning Alexandra would've just had the one weeks at #1.

04. (1) Olly Murs - Please Don't Let Me Go

As much as I like 'Please Don't Let Me Go' it's been very disappointing to have seen a number of tracks enter at #1 only to plummet out of the entire top 3 the week after. I can't believe about how the UK charts were in 2007, 2008 and even 2009 record companies have somehow managed to transform the charts back 1999/2000 style. It's deeply disappointing that in a climate dominated by downloads, singles are now going 01-04-12-38-OUT whilst tracks from 5 years ago continue trickle selling. :drama:

07. (4) Eminem Ft Rihanna - Love The Way You Lie ft Rihanna

10. (-) Emma's Imagination - This Day

Must Be The Music!!! This was such a refreshing talent search show from 2010. I thought there might've been a second series for 2011 but obviously not. Emma's Imagination and Pepper & Piano did very well initially off the back of their auditions.

2006

01. (4) Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancin'

I will never get bored of this song. If there's one song that makes me think of my family drunk and having a laugh at any party we've had in the last 5 years, this is that song. It therefore holds a lot of memories for me.

2001

01. (-) Bob The Builder - Mambo No 5

I agree with Brett-Butler. If you think this is bad, you have to (attempt to) listen to 'I've Got A Little Puppy' by The Smurfs!!! :puke:

02. (-) Supermen Lovers/Mani Hoffman - Starlight

07. (7) Eve Featuring Gwen Stefani - Let Me Blow Ya Mind

Amongst a load of pop averageness there would always be at least one brilliant track in the UK top 10. This particular, as well as 'Starlight' was this gem. I thought this was a brilliant track - not one I've heard in a while but it was certainly a song I listened to quite a bit back then.

1996

01. (-) Peter Andre - Flava

WRONG on so many levels. At least 'Flava' is (semi) memorable. That can't be said about the terrible follow up single (and UK #1 :manson: ) 'I Feel You'.

02. (-) Fugees - Ready Or Not

Lauren Hill had sure come a long way from her acting debut in Sister Act 2 a couple of years earlier. Following 'Killing Me Softly', The Fugees were one of the most popular groups amongst my mates back in 1996. 'Ready Or Not' was a brilliant track imo but after this, they never really released anything of note. Their cover of 'No Woman, No Cry' was a bit of a non event.

03. (1) Spice Girls - Wannabe

Most people think this is shite but I really do think 'Wannabe' is a slice of perfect pop music. They captured the music world's imagination and were marketing down to a tee. It was all about Baby Spice... ^_^

04. (4) The Smurfs - I've Got A Little Puppy

See my above comment. Dreadful.

05. (5) Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity

Another classic song and I hadn't realised it held up so well. Thought it went 03-05 then out of the top 10 but back in 1996, due to my prepearing for my GCSEs, I didn't really follow the UK charts that closely in 1996/1997.

09. (7) Los Del Rio - Macarena

Sex sells. So does cheese. :D

Annoyed that Rolling In The Deep is bound to outsell On The Floor now

^I loved Rocketeer and I love Fly! That explains it.

18 weeks in the top 40, impressive. How many did "Born This Way" and "Judas" do?

20 and 11 respectively.
