October 9, 201114 yr I never thought I'd say this but.. YEEEEEEEEEES! GET IN RIHANNA! :cheer: But enough of what goes on in my male fantasies, I'm so glad Maroon 5 aren't #1! Radio 1 ignored it for a reason. -_-
October 9, 201114 yr If "We Found Love" goes on to cross the 600k barrier in July 2012, it's funny to think that she'll have sold the same amount as "Born This Way" over the same timescale with a significantly less dramatic start but it'll probably still be celebrated as "the #1 that made the top spot in four days" whereas BTW will be known as an underperformer. Mad.
October 9, 201114 yr I saw that fucking coming miles away  It's funny because they're close to overtaking Rihanna on itunes. Yet again, they'll get another chance at #1 soon because they're way ahead of everything else  Moves Like Jagger is massive. This is the first time I've been amazingly impressed by a song's staying power since I Gotta Feeling was released.

October 9, 201114 yr I'm so glad Maroon 5 aren't #1! Radio 1 ignored it for a reason. -_- Apart from the fact that they're stupid?

October 9, 201114 yr At least I won't have to edit my most recent blog post! And the people rubbishing Rihanna's chances in the mids thread because of how much she did or didn't sell in the first two days on sale look a bit silly now  Never underestimate the world's biggest pop star. Still GUTTED but on the upside it's going down as a legendary #2, the biggest since the 90s when all is said and done probably!

Mad. Very true. I don't like Lady Gaga really, but I think it did really well overall. I think sometimes people will see the peak/debut at #3 and forget the rest of the chart run.
October 9, 201114 yr YAY (and I don't even really care for the Rihanna track!) This. Although I do quite like 'We Found Love'.
October 9, 201114 yr The reason R1 ignored it, is due to their own inflated sense of what is good and what isn't. Exactly. Anyway, the longer MLJ stays at #2, the more epic it will be when it finally gets #1 :) It should get it next week imo. 2 weeks at #3, 6 weeks at #2 and then finally getting #1 = EPIC RUN. 3-3-2-2-2-2-2-2-1. Epic run is epic.
October 9, 201114 yr Very true. I don't like Lady Gaga really, but I think it did really well overall. I think sometimes people will see the peak/debut at #3 and forget the rest of the chart run. Yeah, same with "Edge of Glory" really which has had a mental run for a #6. I believe "Born This Way" was initially due to be released on the Sunday it entered the chart, which (assuming it sold about 15k in the last 34 hours of its second sales week) would have seen it stop Adele from going to #1 initially as it would have done about 125k to "Someone Like You"'s 115k. With Jessie J on 92k, that would have been an insane sales week.
October 9, 201114 yr I find it sad people are gleeful because a certain song isn't no.1. If you love the Rihanna track, fair play, but if you don't WTF? *awaits being branded bitter* Edited October 9, 201114 yr by T Boy
October 9, 201114 yr Just criminal that M5 have been denied the no.1 yet again! -_- Never known a song be no.2 for this long, it would be understandable if it was huge no.1 it had been stuck behind...

Mad. I wouldn't be at all surprised if 'We Found Love' sold close to 600k by the end of the year. The timing of this release has been perfect and Rihanna's record company have been rewarded with a UK #1 - a #1 that is most likely to stick around for a few months rather than a few weeks. If its sold 87k this week, I wouldn't be too surprised if it ends up selling more next week. The record company would be wise to get the music video premiered to boost its sales once more.
October 9, 201114 yr MLJ will not be #1 next week - most likely #3. What makes you think that? What's released next week? EDIT: Matt Cardle is, isn't he? But still, Maroon 5 are already catching up with Rihanna quite quickly. Edited October 9, 201114 yr by Mega DC
October 9, 201114 yr Maroon 5 beaten again! pretty sure the iconic number 2 will remain forever, another number 1 for Rihanna! I honestly never thought she'd do it but the song's quite good so fair play
