Posted June 22, 201213 yr Just trying something new, hope it works. I would say its a 3 way battle for the new album #1 next week between Maroon 5, Linkin Park and Flo Rida. I think Flo Rida will definitely miss but it should get at least top 10, most likely Linkin Park will get the #1 album. Other releases. Glenn Frey – After Hours Jedward – Young Love Josh Osho – L.I.F.E. Levellers – Static On The Airwaves Macy Gray – Covered Metric – Synthetica Netsky – 2 The Offspring - Days Go By Producers - Made In Basing Street R Kelly – Write Me Back Saint Saviour – Union I don't think any of the above will trouble the top 10
June 22, 201213 yr Linkin Park will definitely get #1 and probably by a big margin. Maroon 5 may have been able to shift big numbers of albums once upon a time but if they couldn't even shift 300k of 'Hands All Over' with a million selling single, there's no way 'Overexposed' will touch Linkin Park's opening. They'll probably be the top 2 though and 'Overexposed' might do a little bit better than 'Hands All Over' in the long run. Flo Rida will be somewhere between 6 and 10. This era has been handled a lot better than his last album but he's very much a singles act (he's showing early signs of being the year's biggest singles seller). Low sales should get him to #8 or so but he won't have a great chart run. Of the other new releases, The Offspring are probably the most likely to touch the top 10. Edited June 22, 201213 yr by BBB
June 22, 201213 yr Maroon 5's album should outsell Linkin Park's. I'm doubting the Flo Rida album to chart in the Top 10. But I could be wrong.
June 22, 201213 yr Linkin Park should be #1 with Maroon 5 at #2. Yes 'Hands All Over' didn't do as well as their previous albums but I don't buy the "million selling single" argument as it was just tacked onto a re-issue that didn't have the promotion that some other re-releases seem to have had (Gaga, Katy, Jessie). 'Overexposed' has Payphone plus Moves Like Jagger tacked on at the end again and should sell more overall (though nowhere near the sales of what they used to manage). Flo Rida should be top 10 which is good for him.
June 22, 201213 yr Linkin Park are probably most likely to get the No.1, but I wouldn't quite rule out Maroon 5. Flo Rida's had three massive singles this era, and should easily be Top 10. Hopefully low sales can give The Offspring a Top 40 album too.
June 22, 201213 yr It'll be pretty weird I think if Linkin Park don't get #1 imo. It would also be pretty weird if Flo Rida goes top 10. But with sales so low, and 3 big hits, he might do, but I think it's unlikely. Edited June 22, 201213 yr by Eric_Blob
June 23, 201213 yr As big a Maroon 5 fan that I am, Linkin Park have #1 all but wrapped up in my opinion. They've been ahead on pre-orders on most online retailers. In general Linkin Park can still shift the units I feel just to sneak ahead of Maroon 5. Maroon 5 will most likely be at #2, although I predict top 3 just because they don't seem to sell as much albums as they have done in the past. The MLJ argument with HAO is a mute point. MLJ was tacked on as a re-issue and wasn't publicised much, apart from being included in the 2 for £10 offer at HMV for example. Edited June 23, 201213 yr by Dal
June 23, 201213 yr I prefer Maroon 5 but think it will be Linkin Park. Either way it'll be a miles better top 2 than what we'll have this weekend.
June 23, 201213 yr I voted for Linkin Park for #1 album. Think it'll go: 01. Linkin Park 02. Maroon 5 03. Flo Rida All should sell comfortably over 20k!!! :kink:
June 23, 201213 yr I'd say Linkin Park are most likely, but I wouldn't put it past Maroon 5 to pull off a shock, it also could outsell LP in the long run, I think Flo Rida will go top 10 this time though, this era's been far too successful for him not too. Should get a decent sales week anyway
June 23, 201213 yr I think Maroon 5 will JUST get it partly because of the demand created for 'Payphone' and also the 'Supermarket Effect' - Sainsburys, Tesco, Asda and Morrisons all have it as their main album of the week which will hive it more chance for impulse buys over LP
June 23, 201213 yr I'd say Linkin Park are most likely, but I wouldn't put it past Maroon 5 to pull off a shock They've had #1 albums before, so why would it be a shock?
June 24, 201213 yr They've had #1 albums before, so why would it be a shock? Because their last album only made #6 and hardly set the world alight even when Moves Like Jagger was doing the business.
June 24, 201213 yr Do people realise that 'Moves Like Jagger' wasn't originally on 'Hands All Over' and they only included it (on the sly - no big announcement etc...) once MLJ became a massive hit? So it recovered very well. HAO was their "blip" though. I genuinely believe that Maroon 5 will win this round. Linkin Park won't do too much. Doesn't seem to be as much hype around them as there used to be. Maroon 5 are definitely getting more relevant again.
