3k behind for TJC? With a days less sales! Brilliant. Although that day has definitely cost them. They're already on the decline on iTunes! So I just hope they can secure second place now :\

Well almost 15million people watched SPOTY, so thats 5-6million more than X-Factor's most recent series average.

I thought that single pre-orders were added to the update on the first day? I know Justice... have had a day less sales, but if they're not number 1 today and they're on the decrease on iTunes, I think James is more likely to beat them. Likely to be a very interesting battle either way!

 

Shame that musically, they're both inferior cover versions that will be totally forgotten in a few months :/ Justice's song is one of my favourites of all time and I really don't want their sickly version matching the peak of the original so I'll support James to get there for this one.

I'm not that surprised - She has been the darling of the music scene this year and has had amazing exposure, Also there is no big Christmas album selling 400k+ plus this year which has clearly worked to her advantage and its also #1 in the HMV in-store charts which is giving it excellent visibility as people switch from online shopping to the High Street.

I really like Buble, his voice, his style but seeing 'Christmas' on #1 two years in a row would be so boring even if album fits to festive days.

 

Emeli's album is the biggest selling album of this year and she deserves to get an additional Xmas present for your work this year.

Oh god, she really is the most over-exposed person there is at the minute. Even more so than Adele. At least she could have one good performance and have lasting sales. Emeli seems to be on some form of programme almost every week.

Retailer HMV said sales of her album Our Version Of Events have soared after Brit-winner Emeli - who featured in the Olympic opening and closing ceremonies - appeared in the BBC broadcast on Sunday night.

 

The programme also seems to have given a major uplift to sales of the official DVDs of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The BBC One show, watched by an average audience of 10.6 million, saw cyclist Bradley Wiggins take the ultimate prize, with heptathlete Jessica Ennis named runner-up.

 

Following the broadcast sales of the BBC's Olympics DVD have risen by 269 per cent and sales of Channel 4's Paralympics DVD have risen by 144 per cent, according to HMV.

 

Emeli's sales rise is being predicted to take her from this week's number four to the top of the album chart for Christmas.

A spokesman for the retailer said: "The BBC's Sports Personality of the Year was a wonderful celebration of an amazing year of sport that allowed us all to relive and savour our glorious Olympics summer one more time."
