I Love It is nothing like Lady Gaga. I enjoy having ears after listening to Icona Pop.

:D

(honestly I don't get the 'Born This Way' comparison at all, Griff, and you're the first person I've ever heard compare them )

Icona Pop sold 46k on Sunday and Monday

This seems like great sales, should hopefully get significantly over 100k then! :cheer:

Isn't it a bit of a cross between Martin Solveig (Hello) and The Ting Tings (That's Not My Name) with a little bit of Bodyrockers (I Like The Way)? :D

I thought it was similar to Hello as well. I don't hear any Lady Gaga at all in it.

LMAO Lady Gaga? Some people need to grow ears if they think it sounds like Lady Gaga (no matter if I like her or not)

Despite the instrumental of I Love It sounding incredibly similar to the instrumental of Born This Way?

And Born This Way sounds like Express Yourself (from Madonna), so I Love it is Express Yourself? Jeeez

Nope, not at all imo.

The production of the chrouses are incredibly similar in my opinion. Have you listened to the links? It's just so that you know where I'm coming from. :P

OK I admit they sound a bit similar, but hey a lot of pop songs basics are similar, so it's not a big thing and not a good argument. All in all, with the lyrics with the melody they have nothing to do with eachother.

I've listened to both and they do not sound like each other.

Didn't stop you liking "Starships" by bloody Nicki Minaj, which most definitely is not 'good'. :D

Was Startships cool?

Still love it, btw.

They do sound vaguely similar but Gaga (or Red One...or whoever produced Born This Way) didn't invent side-chain compression.

Hope Robin does 100k+ again this week, so Pharrell matches Cher's 10 weeks in a row selling 100k+ (albeit with 2 different songs and both as a feature). Strange that (possibly) the second song of the 21st century to do 5 weeks over 100k does it immediately after the first, after nearly 13 and a half years without one.

Even if he doesn't though, Icona Pop will guarantee another week of 100k+ #1 sales. Fingers crossed John Newman will be able to stretch that another week next week but still not sure he's going to even beat Icona Pop's 2nd week to #1.

To be fair to Griff, the instrumental to 'I Love It' does KIND OF sound like the intro (bit after the "It doesn't matter if love him" bit...) on loop. But it sounds more like 'Hello' and has reminded me of that track since day one!
Exactly. It's just two screeching women shouting over a Scandinavian beat that has the exact same production of Born This Way.

Post of the week

'I Love It' for some reason reminds me of t.A. T.u's 'All the things she said' and 'E.T.' by Katy Perry. That said, after reading it, I do really see the 'That's Not My Name' as well.

I am glad this is on course to being the #1 this week, it definitely feels like a summer smash.

I've always said that Icona Pop are like an electro-pop version of t.A.T.u! Someone who agrees, yay! :cheer:
