Not for chart purposes! :P It's getting no benefit from being free in terms of that, whereas The Pogues are. If The Pogues were free too then there's no way they'd be as high as #9 in the midweeks. Obviously AIWFCIY being free is an incredible bargain, and those taking advantage of that most likely don't care about the charts anyway.

For a consumer yes, but because it is free all of those downloads are not counted for the charts so it is actually really damaging her chart position compared to The Pogues etc. If she was 19p instead then she would be much higher in the updates as those sales will be counted.

I can see Ed Sheeran doing 130-150k this week. I think he's going to have very strong sales Friday/Saturday plus he's performing on the X-factor final. Would love to see him do 200k+ next week. ^_^

At least it would increase sales in the album chart as last years album sales were poor. If compilations charted in the album chart last year, NOW 86 would have stopped 1D from scoring 2013's biggest selling album

Yeh he has a chance as he will do 150k max this weekend plus he has XF next week to help plus it's a week until Xmas. Adele 21 did 250k on Xmas week didn't she?

Adele was #6 in the Xmas album chart in 2011. Amy Winehouse had Xmas #2 album in 2011 and Michael Bublé had Xmas #1 album with sales of 317,114

Well, looking at this year's projections we can safely say that even without compilations the directioners won't have the best selling album of this year :)

I too am pretty shocked about Union J, I would've thought that after by far their highest charting single it'd go around low top 10, but it looks like this will be lucky to keep top 25.

 

I really don't know where they go from here to be honest, especially as it's plainly obvious that this entire era has been done on the cheap.

It was mainly the title and the rushed Christmas release (and the fact that it's a duet with a female singer) that I was comparing, I didn't think they were musically that similar. I'm obviously hoping it does equally badly in the chart though.
