Let It Go #26

1989 #8

Is The Wealdstone Raider anywhere to be seen in the top 100? Would love if he has a chance of going top 40 this weekend

Nope thank heavens for that, but the Carrot Cock track is :(

Out of last week's top 40 are 17 21 31 33 34 35 36 40

#35: I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday and #36: Last Christmas

HOW did they drop out on Christmas week. :???:

Oh, and YES! :yahoo: to Blame dropping out! And it looks like All Of Me is about to exit the top 40... :o

Singles

Impressive sales for Ben :o

Perhaps it will do a Band Aid?

Any reason why the last five I quoted are climbing/is Photograph properly released now? I haven't been watching if anything was performed live

He did it on X Factor on Saturday. Meghan Trainor did All About That Bass, Take That did Rule The World with the finalists, both on Saturday. On Sunday, One Direction did Where Do Broken Hearts Go, Olly Murs & Demi Lovato did Up, and Sam Smith did Stay With Me

Is Beneath Your Beautiful anywhere, after Fleur East and Labrinht's duet on X Factor?

As i said the first week of december sees the xmas songs gaining alot but there is always a mid december lull until around 19/20th when the rise again. Unfort xmas week is early this year so the xmas songs prob wont rise much this week and next weeks gains will be tempered by the fact they will all free fall from 25th dec onwards. Last year was perfect as we had a whole week build up to xmas day so had maximum sales for the xmas tracks within one week!

Thanks, must be the only one here who doesn't watch TV and oblivious to live performances  :(

Great sales for These Days again, hopefully it'll go past 200,000 total sales this week
I am fully supporting Ben for the Christmas number 1. Take That are continuing to perform well :yahoo:

Xmas Day was on a Wednesday last year.

Another classic case of Steve randomly stating something as fact, whether it is or not

So Ben has only sold 75k? Thats catchable with streams!!

Well, Amazon sales for yesterday are missing, so he's likely a bit higher (He's #1 there). Plus I assume this midweek includes streaming, if so he's got a 20k+ lead despite it. Ben's lead should increase in the next few midweeks. Especially when his physical is released on Wednesday.

Although saying that, I wouldn't be surprised if "Uptown Funk" goes to #1 next week, only giving him one week at the top.

X Factor Winners' Tuesday Update Sales (2008-14)

187,000 James Arthur - Impossible (2012)

150,000 Alexandra Burke - Hallelujah (2008)

112,000 Matt Cardle - When We Collide (2010)

77,000 Joe McElderry - The Climb (2009)

75,000 Ben Haenow - Something I Need (2014)

69,000 Little Mix - Cannonball (2011)

45,000 Sam Bailey - Skyscraper (2013)

I tried finding data for 2004-7 but there was apparently an issue with data for Leon Jackson so he was missing from 2007's Xmas Week Tuesday Update and the rest had really contrasting figures: Leona either sold 88k or 101k on the Tuesday Update and Shayne either sold 46k or 313k! Hopefully Gezza can help out there as he'll have a much better idea than me!

Nothing more than 250k for Ben Haenow I guess, Band Aid 30 will be keeping their record for fastest selling single of the year

It's in the Top 60.

Uptown Funk for Xmas No.1 please *.* Ben for a Band Aid style slowdown s'il vous plait.

As much as I dearly want this to happen, it's not going to happen.

Funny thing is, if all the 'stop x-factor omg!!111' campaigns got behind Mark Ronson I expect he'd quite feasibly do it (maybe they are?? 50K+ seems an awful lot for Sunday and Monday even despite Sunday being a big sales day and the X-Factor boost from Saturday night).

Happy to! :D

As downloads were much smaller in 2005 I'd be inclined to give Shayne Ward the 313k as that was the first day of the CD release. Leona was indeed 101k for the first day on downloads alone in a stronger download market. Leon Jackson sold a mere 36,000 on his first day making him the slowest starter on the list, Steve Brookstein did 37,000 on his first day which was CD only.
