December 21, 201411 yr 'Sirens' is great. Unmissable and this should've been top 10 hits too. Btw, Hi y'all! :cheer: Welcome to Buzzjack :D
December 21, 201411 yr I think it's pretty justified to call the John Lewis Xmas ad a new tradition - if it isn't then how many more years does it need to go on before it can be considered one? They clearly aren't stopping them any time soon and like it or not it is now a part of Christmas in the UK, remember the media coverage / anticipation for this year's ad. Oh yeah, I get that, it was just the way it was phrased looked odd because to me they're still a new thing.
December 21, 201411 yr The Pogues at least a non-mover! I won't hold my breath for them to have entered the top 10 but at least that's another victory over Mariah who dropped :heehee:
December 21, 201411 yr Caught the error that time! Olly Murs number 1? I wish. Love this song so much. Such a groovy jam.
December 21, 201411 yr The Pogues settling for #11 again then? I'd assume so, I doubt it's overtaken All About That Bass
December 21, 201411 yr Caught the error that time! Olly Murs number 1? I wish. Love this song so much. Such a groovy jam. Yes, saw it and changed it :P
December 21, 201411 yr I'm more excited about Up's position! It's great pop song, hopefully top 5 today with a great longevity!

The band reached international prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s. MacGowan left the band in 1991 due to drinking problems but the band continued first with Joe Strummer and then with Spider Stacy on vocals before breaking up in 1996. The band reformed in late 2001, and has been playing regularly ever since, most notably on the US East Coast around St Patrick's Day and across the UK and Ireland every December. The group has yet to record any new music and, according to Spider Stacy on Pogues.com, has no inclination to do so. Their politically tinged music was informed by MacGowan and Stacy's punk backgrounds, yet used traditional Irish instruments such as the tin whistle, cittern, mandolin and accordion. The Pogues were founded in Kings Cross, a district of Central London, in 1982 as Pogue Mahone—pogue mahone being the anglicisation of the Irish póg mo thóin, meaning "kiss my arse". - Wikipedia Chart history (Year peak title): The Pogues 1985 72 Pair Of Brown Eyes -1- 1985 51 Sally Maclannane -2- 1985 62 Dirty Old Town -3- 1986 29 Poguetry In Motion -EP- 1986 42 Hunted -OST- 1987 08 The Irish Rover (The Pogues & The Dubliners) -NAS- 1987 02 Fairytale Of New York (The Pogues Feat. December 21, 201411 yr Painfully close to top 10 again... no doubt made it on sales (streaming where are you when we need you?) X Factor final actually helping one song then at least!
December 21, 201411 yr Reaching the top 20 for 10 consecutive years is an incredible achievement! Even in 2010 when everyone briefly went off Xmas music for some reason (judging by the low peaks for all of the standards that year).

December 21, 201411 yr Oh there's few positions more frustrating than 11 two weeks in a row! But still, much love for the Pogues continuing to dominate at Christmas and I hope it can continue, well, forever
December 21, 201411 yr I guess with Christmas being fairly late in the week this could hopefully go top 10 next week Edited December 21, 201411 yr by ElectroBoy
December 21, 201411 yr So pleasing to hear this so high up the chart again, it's still sounding just as perfect as it does every year and I'm actually feeling more Christmassy than usual this year, so even more so.
