Jake <3 Air It All Out is even more wonderful now to know it means so much to you!

I like every song down to like #12, and even though the winner is the most mediocre of these and most importantly I'M NOT PART OF THIS, this is something to be celebrated!

 

I just really need to send something relevant next month cuz it's getting a bit desperate.

i just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone that took the time to listen to, vote for and just ENJOY paulini. it is the most important entry i ever have sent with ease. the song has so much meaning and context attached to itself for me. i remember coming across 7th heaven's remixography back in january, it is utterly vast but totally spellbinding to anyone that loves popper's o'clock empowering remixes for gays. their remixes are what sort of make buzzjack's character to me. i spent about 6 hours searching through listening to a million and one of them to find the perfect one with paulini and i'm so glad i did. it's the sort of remix that makes me proud to be gay as if i were not gay i wouldn't be able to enjoy it.

 

though it goes further than that. i was in a terrible relationship for a good year with someone i couldn't fall out of love with no matter how abusive they were. recently i found out that he is seeing somebody else and that's such a weird stab but this remix has helped push me beyond and actually AIR IT OUT and move on.

 

music that can be there for you in that moment and that's what this competition is about to me, sending and sharing and enjoying songs not reacting or being tactical or judging on who sends. because music is a f***ing wonderful thing in so many many ways.

I think what really matters, no matter what place you got, was that you sent something that you loved, and that's all that matters.

I preferred 'Raindrops' as a song to 'Air It All Out' but in light of that Jake post it's a little ~heartbreaking~ that Paulini just missed out by such a small margin. It's a bit like RuPaul / Orbital but with the opposite result, I much preferred 'Wonky' as a song but as a winner 'Sissy That Walk' was far more significant/deserving really!

Jake <3 love you my darl, music really is the best thing ever and love that you've introduced the 7th Heaven remixes into my life. 'Air It All Out' would've been an amazing winner (not to detract from Yu, you go gurrl) and annoyingly would've been my 12 (with ProJ not far behind) had I decided to enter one contest earlier (and miraculously got to the final). Oh well top two still amazing, some FABULOUS discoveries from this contest, can't wait to get stuck into the next one!

this is the first results i've followed closely in a while as i enter to discover / am never normally online when they are presented but it's so interesting to see the amount of power politics, reactionary voting and voting based on person as opposed to song and country that quite clearly goes on. it totally clouds the process and the very ethos of what this competition is about. people can protest blue murder but you know in your heart of hearts if you are doing it. the amount of negativity too is quite baffling.

 

i think the competition would benefit at some stage from a short term hiatus to restock, the process is exhausting and i feel like it's sort of moving away from the very mantra it stands for.

That was lovely to read Jake, how you connected so strongly with Paulini's song and how it helped you cope with a difficult situation. It's so fantastic when a song can be that powerful! It's most definitely my favourite out of all of the entries I've ever heard, so I'm thrilled to have discovered it via you.

WELL, 17th is exactly what I predicted when I found "Running Behind" a month ago! Glad it met my expectations and that so many others liked it!

The best song won this contest, I don't think it's fair to claim that people vote based on the person when you look at countries like Altyr who smash almost regular each month yet finished bottom of their semi (yes Altyr finished bottom of their semi for anybody who never knew). I could be completely wrong but I don't think you would be saying this had you won. I do think it's unfair to say what you've said though as Daehun had such an incredible entry this month.

 

I don't think there's any negativity around BJSC if I'm being honest and I think this is the most negative one that I've seen all night, why would BJSC benefit from going on some sort of hiatus when it's currently one of the most popular things on the forum? There's always an alternative.

i'm confused, where did i say any of this related entirely to me or based on this month or anything to do with me and yu? had i won i would still feel these are all issues that lie within the competition. they are apparent month after month.

 

i don't enter this with the intention of winning or looking for glory as i've said already. i don't need an internet song contest to provide me with validation in any way. why are you so defensive to what i am saying? you clearly seem to have some sort of issue with me again, though as usual i am unsure as to what it is. i don't get the hostility when i thought we were in a better place? i've certainly not been hostile towards you at all.

I don't see where I've been aggressive and personal towards you in the slightest?

but it's been obvious for the past week that you've had some sort of issue with me again and therefore it's very difficult to separate anything you say to me from that as you come over as overtly hostile. you don't come off as "friendly disagreement" rather "thinly veiled contempt disagreement". any reference from me, relating towards me has been from a negative place that is how you are making me feel all the time on here and its sort of exhausting lee.

I for one see exactly what you mean. I was thinking this for a couple of countries this month. Numayania being the main one for me (just to give an example) that really was bizarre, not voting Paulini despite it being extremely Numayanian and I could envision him sending the song himself. Fair play that I'm probably just reading to much into this and he really doesn't like the song enough to vote for it, but it's still a thought that ran through my mind more than it should for a fair amount of these results.

 

But then again, it could all just be down to tastes and certain countries appealing to others, but there were a coupe of countries I didn't even get in the "commiserations" list despite the song being something they'd probably usually go for, but again probably reading too much into it/they probably didn't like it afterall etc... I took a few months out coz I needed a break from it all. TO ME it seemed like it all got too serious/people voting for certain people/just became a lot more effort in general to enter than usual etc... and it wasn't really "fun" to enter anymore (only speaking for myself, obvz).

 

But CONGRATULATIONS to Yu on winning again(?)! It's a great song, a worthy winner and a brilliant discovery for me. Thanks for hosting Cameron! You gave it everything and it paid off, especially towards the tense last few votes!

There's many of times where people are like " It's such a lee song" and although I may like it I may like 10 more songs in the competition? I've snubbed multiple songs in the last two months that have felt like an Aquafina song and I think 'Air It Out' for me was such a Lee song but I preferred 10 other songs in the final.

 

Tom also provided me with points, no way he's voting on the people now!

 

On the flip side where I'm contradicting myself is the Ryan / Silas situation where the latter never seems to provide the former with points regardless of what I think is so up his street but as I said it is most likely dependent on taste and even though we could like it it could miss the votes by a couple of points.
