Another reason Adele is outselling NOW 92 is because TV channels can be bothered to advertise her album but they can't be bothered to advertise NOW 92

Yes, I'm sure that's the reason. Do you have more wisdom for us, all-knowing Hadji?

I'm pretty sure adverts are paid for by the record companies, not what the TV channels randomly fancy advertising that day!

you don't have to be sure, that's a fact :D

In fact they not just pay for advertising but agree when and around what time in what commercial break should it be played (depends on the time, the prices vary).

If someone doesn't know how advertising is working, should just not speculate and then write dumb things.

Well, back in August, the sales for 21 broke down as follows:

Total: 4,766,413

Physicals: 3,756,763 (inc 10,112 on vinyl)

Download: 1,000,582

Streams: 9,068

I imagine only downloads have changed since but I wonder if we see 25 selling that much on vinyl.

Any sales for yesterday? I imagine it's over the 500k mark now.

I bet 25 sells a lot on vinyl, given the increase in the vinyl market. In my local HMV they had the vinyl stocked along with the cd on the front display.

I'd be surprised if 25 isn't over 500k by now given that Saturday is traditionally the biggest retail day-including all those supermarket sales, plus we're in the gift buying season, plus the BBC1 show, the publicity given to first day sales and the fact that she's Adele-how could it not match day 1 sales.

One question-are all pre-order sales included immediately in the first day sales tally?

Yes, they are.

I think people are overestimating what her sales passed the first day will be.

Really? I think most people wouldn't have bothered to pre-order? My Mum, 2 aunts and Nan bought the album yesterday and would never pre-order, I think sales for Saturday would have been through the roof from Supermarket shoppers and those making their first venture into HMV since 21 was released.

Maybe the rest of the week. But weekend sales will be huge.

Yeah I'll admit I didn't intend to buy '25' but picked it up yesterday while in HMV (got Banshee season 2 as well, everyone needs to watch that) as it was playing and I wanted to give it a chance. Glad I did, I don't own 21 or 19 and Adele isn't a fave of mine, but 25 is an exceptional record. Water under the bridge is incredible.

I think casual sales this weekend will be huge. I wouldn't be surprised if she shifted another 200k yesterday.

Daily Fail reporting that 25 sold 900,000 copies on US iTunes on Friday alone.

If that is correct and you add SNL and other promo, other sales channels and rest of the week iTunes then that could add up to.....

...rather a lot I guess!!!!

(I'm no megafan, don't like 21 that much and don't own 19 - but 25 is brilliant)!

Daily Fail for once are correct. There was a Billboard article on it yesterday.

I wonder if we'll get a world week total?

Oh wow, your comment is just perfect!

Lucas hood is bad ass! Banshee is so underrated!!

'Water under the bridge' is my favourite song of the record too!

Who are you? Haha

I feel like the record 'sales' industry as a whole was waiting for this and need it to be huge.

They need it to sell amazingly to prove a point and I think the industry as a whole will do whatever is needed to make it massive. If the public buy into purchasing music, even for one artist, the industry can get some sales momentum from it (or at least try).

Luckily it's a great album so it's not gonna be a hard sell.

I saw an advert for NOW 92 on Friday morning on ITV when Good Morning Britain was on.

Wow at those Adele sales, it will be interesting to see to full week total, i think she will come very near to Oasis, or possibly beat it. Her American sales are even more insane. Looks like if her album didnt sell another single copy after its first week she would still have a huge hit to her name.
The album has sold over a quarter of a million in one day! Think this is a big deal guys!!! Went to local tesco yesterday ( huge store )!andmwas totally sold out!

Well, that's what i expected - that the shops might run out of stock of "25" I really hope that her record company is able to ship enough copies to reduce this problem to a minimum. Of course you can buy the album online or download it if you can't get it in your local store - sth. that was not possible back in 1996 when Oasis released <_< - but I don't think that many casual buyers would bother to do so.
