ABBA GOLD: SURVIVOR

I’ve taken it upon myself to launch my own survivor poll type thing, this one is for one of the biggest selling album of all times and also (sort of) coincides with the buzz around Mamma Mia again. The rules are simple please vote for YOUR LEAST FAVOURITE and every couple of days I will eliminate the song with the most votes until we have a winner.

In the closest battle so far with various songs up for the chop at varying points, it's "Chiquitita" which loses its place in the contest. Released in 1979, as the lead single from Voulez-Vous, the song peaked at #2 for two weeks losing out to the Blondie classic "Heart Of Glass". This continues the unfortunate pattern of ballads doing poorly in this countdown.


As predicted last round we had an extremely close run with "SOS" on five votes. "Super Trouper", "Fernando" & "Waterloo" all run close too with four. "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "Lay All Your Love On Me", "Money, Money, Money", "Voulez-Vous" & "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!" all had two and faithful Bre kept "Dancing Queen" on one vote.

It's still Mamma Mia and The Winner Takes It All that remain unvoted.

I'm sticking with SOS, I don't hate it or anything but outside of the chorus it's not my fave.

I went with ‘Super Trouper’ this week!

Can't believe Super Trooper, a very good song (I also the background voices in the chorus 'Supa-ah-ah Troop-ah-ah') will most likely be going, ahead of the materialistic Money Money Money, which I voted for.
