What was the story with this - was it available upon his album release in Oct 2018 and then on the date on the chart blurb 19/11/19 added to Amazon only and so charted top 10 or was the album re-released this year?

It wasn't on the original 2018 release. The album was re-released this year but Happy Xmas is only on the Amazon download/streaming version not on the CD.

"Step Into Christmas" is really poor, don't get how it has become a yearly Christmas staple.

Well it has gavin and Stacey to thank this year

'Do They Know It's Christmas?' still the superior version by miles, I don't mind the 2014 one either but am not huge on the other two.

The original and best

The first Band Aid is definitely the best Band Aid.

Love this. Always been one of my favourite Xmas tracks I still couldn’t tell you who a good few people on the track are given its older than me but I love it.

the positive thing if Ellie gets the #1 is that the occ will be forced to look into playlists and probably introduce some way of reducing the impact of playlists like them having a different ratio or similar
Hmmm still prefer Band Aid II

Biography

Michael Barratt (born 4 March 1948), known as Shakin' Stevens, is a platinum-selling Welsh British rock and roll singer and songwriter who was the UK's biggest-selling singles artist of the 1980s. His recording and performing career began in the late 1960s, although it was not until 1980 that his commercial success began.

In the UK alone, Stevens has charted 33 Top 40 hit singles including four chart topping hits "This Ole House", "Green Door", "Oh Julie", and "Merry Christmas Everyone"; his last Top 40 single was "Trouble" in 2005 apart from his Christmas song, which has re-entered the UK Top 40 chart each December since 2007. - Wikipedia

Dizzee's rapping in the 2004 version makes that the iconic version.

Yeh that's the one I witnessed the hype for when released in 2004 but the original is still the best by far. They don't need anymore tbh.

It wasn't on the original 2018 release. The album was re-released this year but Happy Xmas is only on the Amazon download/streaming version not on the CD.

Thanks for clarifying!

Back to back number 1s from consecutive years: Band Aid from 1984 and Shakin' Stevens from 1985.

2017 Shaky made number 10

2018 Shaky made number 9

2019 Shaky makes number 6

His highest position since 12th December 1987

This was recorded and all set to be released at Xmas 1984 but when Band Aid and Wham announced they were doing Christmas songs Shaky persuaded his label to wait a year as he wanted the Christmas No.1. Wise move.
BA1 and BAII are the only ones you need....

Band Aid 2 is horrendous imo, a crappy SAW version with Cliff jumping on the bandwagon.

Time for a rate:

Band Aid 84>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Band Aid 20>>>>>>>>Band Aid 30>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Band Aid 2
