I dunno. But I do know if lockdown happened during the physical era, no way would the Weeknd have that amount of time at the top

You do realise shops would be shut and people wouldn't be able to buy them, don't you?

Yes but also you’re forgetting that amazon and the HMV website sell entertainment products so people would buy from there

Albeit barely I imagine, probably not enough to justify even running a chart.

Bet whoever decided to put LLA out on Thursday is kicking themselves unlucky

Hopefully Ava can hold too 40 this week, how far has Capt Tom dropped wonder how far he will have by Friday, Dua lipa going for lowest number 1 album sales ever ? Or is she safe to pass that

She's safe to pass that, the lowest was 7,948 for Blossoms in 2016 and Dua is already on 5.9k.
what the OCC could put in place is that if a song declines relative to the market it should count as a decline, even if it registers a gain (ie. if it gains by 1% and the market gains by 2%).

for whatever reason (I think?) that rule is in place the other way around (if it declines, but not as much as the market, it still avoids ACR) but not for when it doesn't gain as much as the market gain.

This is my thought too, they should really implement this and it's oddly inconsistent that they don't already.

Ya this was in my head but when i saw the sales update i knew she was fairly safe from taking over that record :D

hopefully she will reach 10k sales even though its still pretty dire...

My guess for the reason they don't is so that on the lead up to Christmas, songs which are steadily increasing aren't sent to ACR by Christmas song streams inflating the market.

I have to disagree with everyone saying that Live Lounge Allstars should have been released on Friday. Ultimately the overall sales are more important than the chart position, since it's a charity single after all, and clearly having it available for sale Thursday night during Big Night In allowed for a massive amount of sales. There's no guarantee that all of those people who bought the single Thursday night would've waited to buy it Friday had it been held back!

Exactly this. I don't think they expected it to have a chance of going to number one when they started either!

There's obviously no way to tell for sure but I really doubt there would have been many people who purchased the Live Lounge song straight away who wouldn't have instead just pre-ordered if its release was delayed 12 hours ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe if it was just put up at midnight without a pre-order being put up it could have lost some sales from people with very short attention spans but even then I don't think that'd be a huge issue.
but also they could have made the tv program on Saturday or Sunday
Sorry if I've already missed this, but why are so many Greatest Hits collections charting this week?!

I’m guessing it’s to do with people streaming them and the lack of actual new releases.

And low sales as well often provide unpredictable charts in the albums!

This is what I was thinking, Thursday was a bit of a random night for it, they usually put this kind of charity programme on a Friday night, which would have worked better in conjunction with the release of the single too. Guess there must be have been scheduling reasons for why they couldn't do it on a Friday.

I think we’re basing far too much of the show on the single  From a chart point of view it would have been perfect for the show to have aired on Friday however from the BBC’s point of view it didn’t matter - they got great viewing figures and are heading towards a 100k Top 5 charity single.
