wait, but there's something that I don't understand about Perfect

I get the song has been skipping ACR, I get that

but how it can be doing enough to be top 40?

just checked Spotify, and it's not in the top 200... checked the last 3 days and it was not there 3 days ago, re-entered at 186 2 days ago, and was gone yesterday.

on Apple, doing similarly... #156 now... and the other version with Beyonce is at nearly #1200...

so it's not an issue of multiple versions combined...

it's doing a bit better on Amazon, but still only #80

and just checked iTunes, and it's not top 100, so it's not doing well cos of downloads either

how can it be top 40? barely top 200 on Spotify and Apple... not top 100 on tunes... how can that be enough to go top 40 even on SCR?

Video streaming seems to be helping it – here's the breakdown of where it was last week

#47 Official

#77 Sales

#54 Streaming

#78 Audio Streaming

#22 Video Streaming

I'm guessing the multiple versions also add up to more than what they seem. On Spotify worldwide, 'Perfect Duet' gets about 23% as many plays as the original nowadays, plus 9% for 'Perfect Symphony' and 4% for the acoustic version (and an insignificant amount for 2 dance remixes that exist); that 36% boost is the difference between #200 and ~#115 on UK Spotify. If the other versions are disproportionately popular in the UK compared to other countries, it could easily be higher, which gets close enough to the #78 audio streaming position to be plausible. It is surprising that the difference is so big though.

but it's surprising then that at Apple there is only 1 version in the top 1000,

and the 2nd version is only at 1200 plus no more versions

Yeah, because the first thing I thought of doing during lockdown is to sit down and watch the 'Perfect' video

It is really odd that it's suddenly doing well enough to re-enter the Top 40.

Weren't many comparing the new Bieber and Grande song to Perfect, it might have got a few listening to it again. It does seem very similar to me.

I think it's just become a modern day classic and probably overtaken as Ed's signature slow song (before it was Thinking Out Loud). No one these days does full on soppy like Perfect does and I'm sure many are feeling very soppy in lockdown  The multiple versions will surely only help elevate it from a top 75 regular to the cusp of top 40.

That being said it does need to hurry back onto ACR asap!

I think VE Day may have helped songs like Perfect which, even if they weren't on VE Day playlists, would probably appeal to a more casual audience that may not stream very often or be less interested in new music. I didn't really spot the effect of this in the streaming charts, but then they were overrun on the day by wartime songs from curated playlists which have swiftly disappeared.

The 'good news' (and I like the song but it still being on SCR clearly goes against the ethos of what ACR was brought in for) is if it has hit some sort of subsiduary peak this week, then it's more likely to decline for 3 weeks in a row from here.

As well as ACR the OCC should look about bringing some recurrence rule like the Billboard perhaps?

Although I do love when an old random song gets vaulted back into the broadcast part of the chart from an advert or something :D

I love perfect but found it odd how high its holding up without been particularly high on the various sites but I think its combined places on all charts and the dif versions combined make sense in why it's so high.

I've always thought they should do this, there's too many old songs lingering around the bottom end of the chart even with ACR. With Billboard's rules we'd have 18 more places in the chart opened up based on the most recent chart if I've counted correctly. Which would no doubt mostly be filled by rap songs no one here cares for but the point stands.

Great to see ROCKSTAR at #1 in the singles chart!

LOL at #1 and #2 in the albums chart having 4 sales between them . I'm guessing Dua will overtake them both on Friday's album chart.

oooo what are the chances Dua gets the #1 album this week? it looks within reach

Almost definite I'd say

Good to see people haven't stopped listening to Michael Jackson following last year's documentary!

would never had predicted 1 week ago that DaBaby would climb to #1 this week

really thought Ari/Bieber would walk it, but that was before hearing the song

you know it's a bad song when it doesn't pass the Westlife fan club standards :)
