I know of course anyone who's booked in Jan/Feb fair enough but people have went for it due to a cheap deal.

Looks like more 14 day quarantines will be imposed this week for Croatia/Turkey/Greece.

My brother booked his holiday to Croatia back in Jan, looks like he won't be going than. I hope he gets his money back

2 whole days with no posts, could be a record!

I find these mad rushes back to airports for all the holiday-goers completely counterproductive. Trying to avoid quarantine but people all cramming into airports & planes thus higher risks of spread anyway...

Wales has now gone 5 days without any reported deaths due to Covid. It’s also the only part of the UK with a falling rate of infection at the moment. I hope we can keep this going.

I have to say the local lockdown rules look completely idiotic. Not being able to socialise with anyone outside your household but you can still go to the pub?

The measures are often contradictory, I’m at school with 1100 pupils not distancing at all but at the same time I’m meant to social distance from anyone not from my household? Even most of the staff haven’t been distancing lol

Having been back in school in July, you do find yourself forgetting about social distancing and then reminding each other to stand apart!

I’m back a week Tuesday, how have schools been in Scotland so far?

Everything’s felt pretty normal. There’s a one way system but it’s the way you’d probably go anyway for most places. The only differences really are they’ve staggered timings so S1-3 and S4-6 have separate lunchtimes and periods and you have to clean your desks when you come in to classrooms. And use the most disgusting hand sanitiser I’ve ever smelt x
Yeah, our sanitiser stank as well  I bring my own.

Our infection rate is falling again and Berlin-Mitte is no longer on the RKI shit list, tho Berlins cases did go back up today so eeeep. Second wave is being driven by returning holidaymakers and the under 60s so the gov ain’t too worried about it

Those aren’t normal 👀

My high school had a one way system and staggered lunch sittings back in the early 2000’s (yes I’m old)

My primary school had a staggered lunchtime as well by like 2009

It’s been nice seeing people really, I’m not sure about the chances of us making it to Christmas without closing are though.

You're not each allocated your own desk with each class always in the same classroom? And no masks? Those are far more important than one-way systems, even if the latter is easy to implement. There's little evidence that briefly brushing past someone coming the opposite way spreads COVID but lots that limiting the size of your social circle lowers the R number.

Here, if it's still like in June then only 3-4 classes will be on break at the same time. But any given time is used as a break throughout the day so it makes things rather noisy.

The fine for non-wearing of masks in public places is €135, which has already been given out to a million people, so I expect mask-wearing to continue for a long time in schools too.

Ensuring each group has all their lessons in the same classroom can only work if the whole group are studying the same subjects and are in the same group for each of those subjects. There are some subjects, like science or arts and crafts, which can only be taught effectively in certain classrooms.
When we go back Years 7 to 9 will be in a set classroom and will only change rooms for practical subjects. Years 10 and 11 have to move around still, they’re all doing different subjects. My classroom will be housing a Year 9 group so I was in school the other day moving some stuff into my new classroom. It’s going to be a bit manic when we get back.

Nope. They're considering masks for S4-6 but we're in different classes all days. It did say they'd do physical distancing where possible amongst older pupils but we've had none of that.

Oh my, was common_sense suspended again?

Oh my, was common_sense suspended again?

He hasn’t been that vocal in this thread anyway-at least since panic buying was separated.

I guess there’s just very little news aside from lockdowns/quarantines and the governments stupidity just isn’t worth getting upset about at the moment.

No I wasn't. Not a lot to say now really is there.

A 33 year old man has become the first ever person to be reinfected with the virus

But what it doesn't tell you is there were no symptoms and his blood had still developed what it needed to do to fight off the virus. Which is good as it shows there might be a longer lasting immunity to side effects than previously thought. So the good news is the immune response to the virus could be even lower than first expected. The bad news is, seemingly you can re-infect other people as you still carry the virus. Only one case out of millions, so it would be interesting to see if this is a pattern.

What about public transport, how do they stop buses getting crowded again at peak times both with schoolchildren on school buses and schoolchildren and other members of the public on normal buses?
