Posted July 15, 20214 yr This week, the queens get personal as they work in teams and let their guard down to host 3 different talk show panels on motherhood, sex and body.
July 15, 20214 yr Author Eureka was SO robbed of the win, Ginger I am confused on? She was fine, she opened up and also was a great moderator and warm, but their panel was weak. She did what she could, and was great in herself, but no chance did she win that imo. Eureka was hilarious but didn't steal focus, she also made sure she guided her team and kept them on track. Maybe I'm biased as I relatd so much to what she was saying, I am DEAD at "what's the term chubby chaser, I ain't running nowhere!!" I am loving her so so much, she's so warm and funny but there's always that human real side. I am not as big of a Scarlet fan as many seem to be but she definitely didn't deserve to go there. I think Pandora did worse, Scarlet I did feel hid behind her drag persona instead of being vulnerable but at least she did let us into her life a bit and spoke about her mothers. Jan and Kylie didn't say a lot or open up at all really. I know she has the win and Kylie doesn't, but I feel that Jan should have gone. It feels like Kylie has more to give and places to go whereas with Jan she is always exactly where you expect her to be and she isn't going to go anywhere. I understand that she is this bubbly OTT personality, but the judges keep telling her she needs to go beyond that. Part of Drag Race is going outside of your comfort zone, pushign yourself, discovering new sides of yourself and being comfortable in them. You can't win being as one note as Jan is, you know exactly what you'll get every time. I will say though this was an... odd challenge at best, I think for people who have issues with whatever topic they had to talk about, it's almost like "face your trauma or go home", which I know Ru loves but I don't think it's fair to critique someone for not opening up on national TV about something they really struggle with or don't really talk about. The lipsync.... happened  2 really boring ones in a row after Coco buried, Rajah and Brooke ATE and Laganja MURDERED.
July 15, 20214 yr Yeah it was definitely a weird episode, probably the worst one of the season so far but we had to have a bit of a dud week eventually didn’t we. The challenge was very strange and I felt that only Akeria/Trinity/Eureka team had the right balance of fun, gossip and heartfelt. I would have either given the win to Trinity or Eureka. Ginger she was good but I would have put her safe or at very most high placement. Really loved Ginger in S7 but in AS2 and so far this season I feel she’s very lacklustre and I feel like they are trying to give her a good showing cause it’s her third time but I’m just not buying it, she did however do great in the lip sync. Jan I probably would have sent home. I loved her on S12 but something just doesn’t seem to be clicking with me this time, challenge wise she has been great on the e talent show, ball and Super Bowl challenge but something about her personality is off. I do get why Kylie and Scarlett were in bottom too but was sad to see Scarlett go, I think both of those 2 should have had some more high placements.
July 15, 20214 yr Akeria was far and away the winner for me! So likeable and warm and the perfect talk show member! Jan was also far and away the WORST for me lord was she unbearable on that panel and Pandora was just extremely dull and would have been my bottom 2! I did however really love Pandora’s look! What a fantastic lipsync however I’m fuming Scarlet left why can’t Ru appreciate her!!!!!!
July 15, 20214 yr I liked the challenge and how the queens got to open up! It was different but it did feel a bit spoiled when we knew all the topics the queens were gonna talk about before the challenge due to the edit. For me Eureka and Akeria were the strongest two, and the group as a whole gelled so well. So the Ginger win felt a little forced. Great lipsync though from both queens and they interacted together so well  I have a feeling the group went for Jan based on the werkroom discussions and I probably would've sent Jan home too, gutted for Scarlett. I do think she had more to give and were not giving her the credit she was due for earlier episodes, but as soon as I knew Ginger was the top Allstar, I felt she would win and she wouldn't pick Jan as they'd been in the same group twice, confirmed it by giving away the money to her and Pandora. I felt Jan and Pandora were a clear bottom two to me, Kylie was going that way but she saved herself by inputting herself into the conversation too. Scarlett was nowhere near the bottom for me so I do feel it's unjust she went here!
July 15, 20214 yr I really enjoyed the epsiode and thought all the queens did well! Ginger winning was criminal though. Eureka or A'Keria should've won it. I LOVED Ginger & Mayhem in the lip sync. I thought they both did really well and played off each other nicely. I loved Ginger dropping to her knees being sexy. I loved the ending when Mayhem took her shoe off too for the final line "it's in your hand". I think it's my favourite lip sync so far, it genuinely had me laughing multiple times. I'm sad to see Scarlett go. I was hoping she would go further. She's given some great performances though and stunning runways/looks! I thought Jan should've gone home. I was so here for Kylie speaking up and going country when talking with the girls. I hope we get to see Kylie really shine more now.
July 16, 20214 yr I think Ru was overly harsh on Scarlet and Jan in their critiques, I feel like production was trying to break them?
July 16, 20214 yr Ru telling Scarlet she made her feel uncomfortable was so uncalled for. I didn’t get that at all, and it just made for really awkward viewing. Mess of an episode in general really, it wasn’t that clear what you had to do to do well? Definitely didn’t see Ginger winning it. I hope this isn’t the start of her dominating, I don’t mind her but she’s been average at best this season so far. Trinity is the star of the season for me atm.
July 16, 20214 yr I think Scarlet was robbed, and assuming it's a performance challenge return/LalaParuza like it has been in other AllStars, I'm not sure she has much chance of coming back either. I think it's a bit tight to let someone come back for AllStars and never even let them have a High placement and positive critiques. Still, at least she goes out as a robbed fan fave this time. I found this challenge pretty hard to parse because what I assumed when watching they were going for was some kind of Loose Women parody - which imo Ra'Jah, Scarlet and Kylie were the best at. Up to the end I was expecting Kylie or Ra'Jah to win, not for that team to be Safe and 2/3 of the bottom 3. I still don't quite know what it was they were going for. Some kind of infomercial or documentary with a discussion element? I can't think of any UK tv equivalent off the top of my head that I could relate it to. Because I found it hard to judge the parameters, I don't know who performed best or worst, apart from Jan who clearly got the whole thing completely wrong. I didn't find Ginger standout in the challenge or the runway, which I thought had too many colours going on. Ra'Jah would be my first choice for the win, and then probably Eureka or Trinity after her. I need Kylie to win something soon because I need to see her lipsyncing!
July 16, 20214 yr i ginger deserved it as much as some of the other girls, but was definitely one of those moments where production were like she NEEDS to win something to establish her as a front runner. kylie/rajah/scarlet were definitely the worst group and would have put them all bottom 3 over jan. starting to feel really sorry for jan as they are more than just critiquing her drag, they are critiquing who she is as a person. it was truly bordering on cruel this week :(
July 16, 20214 yr Ru telling Scarlet she made her feel uncomfortable was so uncalled for. I didn’t get that at all, and it just made for really awkward viewing. What did she do that was uncomfortable? Camp it up occasionally? Bizarre. I was genuinely shocked at that. I was convinced Pandora was in the bottom (and likely going home) with Trinity winning — especially after that runway look. Just a strange episode. We want Red Table Talk vulnerability but make it camp — but not too camp.
July 16, 20214 yr It reminded me of that awkward S10 episode when Ru was trying to bring out the Queen’s deepest insecurities and inner saboteurs.
July 16, 20214 yr i thought they were supposed to make it funny and campy but turns out they wanted vulnerability and seriousness? i don't get it. eureka deserved the win as she didn't seem to be trying as hard as ginger. but i'm kinda glad she won as we got to see that f***ing lipsync. INCREDIBLE. i feel like they are all pussyfooting around Kylie for some reason. I thought she had by far the worst performance and deserved to go home for that. Plus she's been pretty average the entire season for me.
July 17, 20214 yr i thought they were supposed to make it funny and campy but turns out they wanted vulnerability and seriousness? i don't get it. That's what I thought as well, I did like the conversations but using it as a challenge seems weird... Why let them do this in drag and then expect to be 'themselves' and vunreble? Would have made more sense to do this challenge out-of-drag to be honest. Sad to see Scarlet go, she has been doing well since the first week but totally underrated. A'Keria did the best in my opinion and I would have liked to see her win, group 1 in general was very strong. Shame not to see Jan go, without sounding like a broken record, but once again she was annoying me throughout the entire episode. I think I'm going to scream if I hear the word "Jantasy" one more time.
July 17, 20214 yr I've just watched all 5 episodes over the course of the past couple of days and I still utterly adore Jan idk why people dislike her so much, I understand she is a big personality and does border the line of too much at times but that doesn't actually put me off her, I actually really like the positivity and energy she brings to the table. It's almost as if she's battling herself though but what else is she meant to do when people aren't even critiquing her drag or performance at this point - they always make it more personal with her which isn't exactly fair. I think she did misjudge the tone of the panel this week but I don't agree with those of you that think she should have gone home. Scarlett has just kinda been there without much growth so I don't even feel like we're going to be missing out on much now that she's gone. Arguably Pandora was the worse in my book though and I do think had Kylie not been the mediator she would have been a bit forgettable this week too. I think Jan has had some of the best runways this series though and people have been overlooking them, the week she did win she looked phenomenal- those colours  Trinity is also my favourite, she may not be the strongest but she is definitely the most endearing and the one I'm rooting for because I just want her to do well and shock everyone with how much she's grown since her season - I did warm to her on season 6 as well, out of everyone she has the biggest story arc from the two seasons I think. As much as I like Ginger, she's done this several times already idk what else she can show us really? Same with Eureka and she's not even as likeable  Idk who I can see winning it however. I'm glad Yara went last week as by God she was annoying, I disliked her even more than Silky - I was actually kind of enjoying a more subdued Silky until she was hitting out with the whole "I'm just not going to talk because nobody will like me then" narrative. Self pity isn't anymore likeable than self indulgence tbh but you could see how in her head she is was which was a shame as nobody should feel that under pressure to filter themselves and maybe a lot of her public image was due to her editing who knows. July 18, 20213 yr The lipsync.... happened  2 really boring ones in a row after Coco buried, Rajah and Brooke ATE and Laganja MURDERED. Are you feeling okay?? The lipsync was SUPERB. I’ve watched it so many times!
July 18, 20213 yr Felt for Scarlet - however I can’t see her or Kylie doing well on acting challenges I expected Ginger to win based on individual performances and it was a nice surprise despite the other team winning I don’t think Jan should have been up for elimination - for me it should have been Kylie Vs Scarlet, with Kylie going (I so wanted her to smash the return after going out too early in her original season)
