Just caught up, amazing results for I Follow Rivers (!), Changed the Way You Kiss Me, Young Blood, All of the Lights, The Edge of Glory, Rolling in the Deep, Midnight City & Blind Faith (!!!) in their last year <3 ouch WFL by contrast lol :P

Happy to see new peaks for Wish You Well, Kill v. Maim, I Could Be the One, Runaway (U & I), Stay High, West Coast, Try, Flesh Without Blood, Be the One & Faded :) I'd never noticed how stable Christine & 212's runs have been so far, impressive!

Interested to see where Midnight Sky ends up, I wouldn't be shocked to see Physical win at this point.

I like the Top 8 except Video Games which I don't hate but am surprised at all the love it gets. First heard it when I was in Australia in 2011 into 2012 backpacking and thinking it was so dull and slow. Has grown on me since then but don't think it is worthy of being this high at all! Definitely prefer Video Games and LOVE Summertime Sadness!

Two songs climbing into the top 10 now. First up we have Arctic Monkeys who have had a long journey to get here having spent the last three years in the top 20. No longer lumbered with a #11 peak as they had in the official chart what we can definitively call their signature hit now 'Do I Wanna Know?' is at #8 this year. It once again topped the yearly poll for 2013 however 'Get Lucky' is still in the running in the final. The song also holds its place as Buzzjack's favourite guitar-based hit of the past decade which is certainly well-deserved, it's certainly aged well and is also still a staple of the Spotify top 200. It had support from 18 voters.

It is a good year for Billie Eilish as alongside Bad Guy climbing to #60 she's now at #7 with Everything I Wanted. Perhaps helped by the release of her second proper album or just the addition of a few more of her fans into the chart forum this year. This song does seem to get a lot of critical acclaim online and likewise a great reception on Buzzjack so perhaps the real surprise here is that it was as low as #52 last year. It is one of her better songs so I can't complain with it being here if we have to have one Billie song up high. It also received 18 votes.

“It is one of her better songs so I can’t complain with it being here if we have to have one Billie song up high” - I think that’s what they call damning with faint praise! :P

I’m not a Billie fan especially but Everything I Wanted is sooo beautiful. Great that it’s made the Top 10.

100% agree

Daft Punk get an all-time high peak with 'Get Lucky', up 25 places to #6 having received 20 votes. It never made the top 10 prior, though with a perfect top 40 run. It comes in the year where Daft Punk ended their long hiatus to announce their permanent departure from music, when many of us were expecting them to finally return with new material. Perhaps that's given a few of us some newfound appreciation for this song or maybe it's just that the song hasn't got any worse with age and will no doubt be a timeless classic of the 2010s. It is the highest song this year that falls under the dance umbrella although being more influenced by dance music of the past than modern EDM.

It means Gotye starts off the top five with 'Somebody That I Used To Know', a new peak for the song having only made its way in the top 10 finally last year. It was a song that initially looked like it had a shot of winning the title this year but its votes dried up somewhat towards the end. It got 21 votes including one putting it right at the top of their ranking. The song seems to still be very fondly remembered nearly a decade on and that is very well deserved, it's another that sounds like a timeless classic - if it were up to me these two would be the top two out of this top ten however we still have three new entries to come alongside Lana Del Rey.

Wow - is 3 new entries in the Top 4 a first?

Midnight Sky is my favourite of those remaining, but I’d have thought is fairly unlikely to win.

So glad the Arctics have finally got a well deserved Top 10 position.

Everything I Wanted is just beautiful, one of my absolute favourites from Billie, hopefully this re-peaks again next time.

Would never have guessed 3 new entries in top 4, nor that Miley or Lana would get anything like this high

Miley Cyrus gets her biggest RotD hit instantly in her first year of 'Midnight Sky's eligibility, something we all saw coming really as the song got a load of hype and love on the forum last year. Miley wowed many of us including those who aren't usually fans of her material with her inspired take on the 80s throwback trend doing such a good Stevie Nicks impression that they ended up doing a duet/mash-up version. The song couldn't quite make UK #1 but it had a lengthy run to make up for it and now could very easily spend the next decade racking up lots of votes in this contest. It got 22 votes which was the most of any song, including one set of max points.

Meanwhile we say goodbye to Lana Del Rey's breakout hit 'Video Games' which once again proves to be her most well regarded on the forum. It also remains my favourite of her non-remixed material. In its final year it now surges to a new peak reaching #3 and being the highest song that didn't come out of 2020, being the top of five LDR songs here so it has been a very good year for her (perhaps helped by her doing two albums this year). It had 20 votes including three sets of max points. Therefore it is between Dua Lipa and The Weeknd for #1, which will be announced tonight..

Fantastic for Video Games to go out on such a high. 10 years ago it was possibly the last time I first heard something on the chart show that stopped me in my tracks. Yes she's honed her sound and productions since then, and I hope some of the NFR tracks can progress further in future years, but I don't think we'll get so many people agreeing on a career highlight beyond this one.

Out of the final two, I gave a few more points to Physical, but I'd be happy for either to win.

Everything I Wanted is soooo good, definitely one I underrated at the time but it's among my favourites from 2019 now

Much deserved new peaks for Lana, Gotye, Daft Punk and Arctics

Very happy to see Daft Punk and Gotye get new peaks, both absolute classics. Lana rising to #3 after all these years is great to see too

We've ended up with the top 2 that I expected, both really seemed to resonate with the site last year (together with the wonderful Midnight City) and I'm happy enough to see them so high already.

Awwww Video Games was 30 Pointer and Midnight Sky was my second choice to go all the way from what was still remaining- not that I don't really like the Top 2 as well but these were higher on my faves.

What can I say, both are phenomenal songs. On the positive side it's great for Video Games to go out on such a high and it bodes well for Midnight Sky in future competitions.

Finishing in a close second-place we have Dua Lipa, whose 'Physical' now overtakes 'Don't Start Now' in the affections of Buzzjack to be her most well-regarded hit on the forum. It remains to be seen if this will continue to hold up so high or if she'll out-do herself yet again but she had never been in the top five before now. The track's high energy and big hook had Buzzjack in love from day one and a few predicted it to be a contender this year, well it certainly was but ultimately couldn't beat the monster that is 'Blinding Lights'. 'Physical' had 20 votes with 6 top-ten votes - it had won 2020 by a substantial margin but lost a bit of support in the final.

So, winning by 14 points it is congratulations to The Weeknd. The song may only be just under 2 years old but already feels like one of the biggest hits ever released with its recording breaking American chart run and a huge British one too, just about to spend its 100th week in the chart. It got a universal appreciation across the site and the internet unlike most other songs and well yes, it is undeniably great. A bit early to be calling this the best of the last ten years? Perhaps but I've no doubt it will age very well. The song 'only' had 18 votes but with a lot of big scores - 12 placing it within their top ten.

Great winner, I think it missed out on my votes but I can see it rising in there as the decade goes on, it doesn't sound old at all. And it's really nice to see a top 4 with 3 from the most recent year, we never had anything close back when I was running this.

Thanks for running this Dan and ElectroBoy, it was a very fresh edition with a lot of cool shakeups, and I know how much effort goes into this, excellent and well-presented work.

Blinding Lights is fantastic, and a well deserved #1.

But... Buzzjack... really voting for a male winner?

I daresay there'll be a few members clutching their pearls.

Thanks Dan and Electroboy for running this again!
