Considering that Taylor just have dethroned Adele and has returned to be the most streamed artists WW only after her album release I guess that she is quite well

Yet every Taylor album has failed to sell anywhere near what 21 and 25 have sold in the UK, the US and worldwide. I'm sure 30 and at least one of its singles will also surpass Taylor's highest-selling album and single to date. No doubt Adele will dethrone Taylor now that 30 is out and on course to rocket to #1 all over the world.

And Taylor I can see climbing as well but she hasn’t dropped that much really with it mostly being new entries ahead of her possibly can see her at around #7 by end of week.

I'll never understand this reasoning. Who cares if most of the albums above Taylor are new entries. She's still dropped. She's still selling fewer copies than most of them so far this week.

I can’t believe I’ve come on here to see how Adele is doing and I’m seeing the same s**t being being written again. Different week, same s**t. Boring. Misinformed. Not factual. Reeks with misogyny. Get a life.

So it's misogynistic to criticise her? What a crock of crap.

Her fans can dish it out, but they can't take it. Perpetual victims like the woman herself. She isn't above criticism.

Most of the posts being levied against Taylor here recently are more baseless conspiracy theories than criticisms lol

With that said, unless I am being rather ignorant (which is possible x), I am not really seeing how any of this is misogyny. It's incredibly stupid and tiring to read (I'm not sure why this has had to continue into this week especially when you're making no new points from last week) but I don't see how any of it relates to Taylor being a woman, especially when the other artist that these trolls are supporting over Taylor is also a woman.

One of the broadest fanbases as well, you’ll probably see more teens than middle aged people at one of Liam’s gigs!

Yup, but it's unlikely the teens that went to Knebworth have stopped buying CDs completely. Since the majority of that crowd will now be in their mid 40s..

To be fair it's one of the most famous concerts in history and their demographic is exactly the 'physical market' age range.

Yeah, as I anticipated it's done really well and for this reason. Sold nearly 1.4k on Monday so should get to 25k.

I don't see what any of it has to do with misogyny, just the same debates going round in circles.

It's just 2 trolls bashing Taylor, same as the 3 trolls having a go at Adele,

never seen comments as brainless in here like the ones about TS :/

No, you are coming across as being completely unhinged and you need to have a word with yourself.

Oh don’t be so bloody ridiculous.

Firstly, I have a strange feeling that the same person is making comments on different accounts, especially that last post from the poster who has only 4 posts.

Secondly, I have no problem with criticism. I’m more than happy for a debate and I can accept that others don’t like Taylor too. But these comments the last couple of weeks have at times been crass and you can’t debate with such spite. Not all the comments - I read most with interest - but the incessant and repetitive nature of it from some people is tiresome and certainly not based on any kind of fact. And by the way, I fully expected Taylor to drop this week. It’s a re-recording and has done impressively well for such. But it’s not going to stick around. With this release, it really was all about release week and seeing if it can sell in line with the original moving into the future. But most importantly, it was about Taylor taking back her music.

As for the comparisons to Adele: why would any Taylor fan feel burned by this? She’s amazing and has shown how good she is time and time again. Why would anyone argue against her. I’m not an idiot. And It is also possible to like more than one female artist at the same time. I hope she does fantastically well.

Misogyny (whether unconscious or conscious): It is possible to behave this way to some women and not others. You don’t have to be a misogynist to all, but you might just be a misogynist to a specific kind of women. I think whenever you are putting someone down (and being pretty repetitive and malicious with it), it’s good to check it for any kind of prejudice / unconscious bias.

Misogyny in its simple form is this: ‘dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against women.’ But it can be subtle.

I don’t have to look far to find one example that could be perceived this way. It is on this very page: ‘perpetual victims like the woman herself’ Why the need for the word woman? Would this be written about a man like this? Does the person who wrote this have a prejudice against woman who stand up for themselves or show any emotion and they are perceiving it as ‘playing the victim’ - something that women often get accused of if they show any emotion / stand up for themselves.

I could go through and unpick many of the statements made the last couple of weeks but I cba. This is a huge problem in society and in the music industry and I can’t summarise it here. I am merely responding to comments have been made today.

And you also could be right: this could just he plain spite devoid of any prejudice.

Either way, this thread has been toxic the last couple of weeks.

‘Not a joke, just a fact.’

Definitely agree. I think a lot of the time it's subconscious and so we don't actually realise what we're doing until someone runs the numbers and see that actually it's predominantly the minority demographic that's targeted like this. It's the same with all forms of bigotry. Deep down we all probably think we're not this evil bogeyman (we've invented the worst case form in our head and we're better than *that* guy so we're alright), but it's this subconscious, systemic bigotry that's just as insidious. A person with blatantly offensive rhetoric may not be as damaging as someone who subtlely steers things into an unbalanced situation whether intentionally or not. I think it's important to self-reflect on things like this to better ourselves.

Right... this debate about Taylor is pointless and entirely circular from last week. There is nothing new coming from either side of the debate so can we just stop it and focus on the sales and chart predictions for this week instead please.

We don't need to pit Taylor against Adele, they are BOTH successful and talented and are two of the biggest stars in the world right now. We don't need to be tearing either of them down.

As has been mentioned a few posts up it seems to just be the same person with multiple accounts, sad.

This is literally something you’ve conjured up in your mind because you’re incredulous as to how people are questioning Taylor supremacy. Give it a break and move on.

Adele returns to number 1 global artist on Spotify
Adele returns to number 1 global artist on Spotify

Well deserved. I think this new album is lyrically stunning.

I read that the album is outperforming the rest of the top 40 combined

Intrigued to see where she’ll be in today’s update and if she can push past 300k by end of week.

I’m not a fan of the new Adele album….but it’s great to see the big numbers in such a tough physical market both sides of the Atlantic.

That’s some feat making top spot on Spotify. Looking forward to the next update.

Amazingly Adele has 12 songs in the top 15 on Spotify! Her album really is holding up on streaming amazingly well
Nice boost for Adele on Spotify for yesterday and she’s still holding up well on AM today so far. I think 45-50k from streaming still looks very likely this week for her which is amazing. I Drink Wine is safe I think as the third track, whether it can move past shivers we’ll have to see. Interested to see what her album sales look like on the next update for 30.
