The UK must be incredibly proud of almost winning Eurovision this year with the accessible and catchy entry "SPACE MAN" by Sam Ryder this year placing second. I couldn't help but feel reminiscent of the 1996 smash #1 hit by Babylon Zoo that first got popular by being featured in a Levi's advert. Which of these two smashes do you prefer? Added in a third option for those who don't like either for this underappreciated 2008 hit by the Killers:

As much as I love Sam Ryder’s song, it will take a long time to become the classic that is Babylon Zoo, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it won this poll as many won’t have heard that 90’s hit.

I mean obviously Babylon Zoo, but that's no spite on Sam, takes a very special song to dethrone that x

Also yes that Killers song is really underrated too *.

I was thinking about this song the other day and was wondering what a mash up of the two songs would be like. I have never heard of the killers one

Understandable, that one only peaked at #40 and was overshadowed by "Human" at the time which had a great chart run.

I know this is Sam's time now, but Babylon Zoo's song was such a moment in 1996 - we all knew the sped up bit from the advert, and then hearing the whole song on TOTP for the first time was mind-blowing. Many people have since said the rest of the song is a bit of a dirge, but I disagree - though I don't return to it often, I listened to it a few months ago for the first time in about 20 years and sounded just as good.

Both are good but I did vote Babylon Zoo here

I'm a fan of both but voted for Babylon Zoo - I know it gets a lot of flack for peaking at the start but I enjoy the whole song

And even so, there is a

that is just the opening bit for the whole song and it's not as good as the better known version.

Has to be the Killers song for me, I remember it from the time despite it hardly been a chart hit. Oddly enough I have a feeling it was used on some fan edit video (Doctor Who I think?) back in the earlier days of Youtube and I started listening to the song from there.

But Babylon Zoo and Sam Ryder are both great too!

Sam's song is great too but as a few people have said already the Babylon Zoo track is a classic that's tough to beat so had to vote for that!

(The Killers' and Chris De Burgh's songs are great too x)

Yeah, basically this. You can't really compare a song that's only just been released with a 25 year old classic.

I'm gonna have to pick Babylon Zoo, it's been in my life since I was 9! Who knows, maybe Sam Ryder will eventually overtake it?

In terms of The Killers though, Spaceman >>>>>> Human easily.

Babylon Zoo's Spaceman was my first ever single and basically song that got me interested in the charts. Sam Ryder is good but can't surpass that!

amazed everybody loves the Babylon Zoo so much and even call it a classic

for me, if something, i'd call it the biggest disappointment ever... loved the ad, the music in those few seconds in the ad were incredible... and then the full song was released... and it was not it... biggest disappointment ever, and If you had been there back in the day, you'd probably had been disappointed too

No shade at all on Sam and really hope he can get to #1, but had to vote for Babylon Zoo! The Killers deserved a much higher peak!
Won't lie, my only take away from the UK ESC entry was 'wow, there's another song called Spaceman that goes 'space, man''
