What a stale update.

Also… that Joji song really kinda faltered after initially exploding like a potential #1

It unfortunately seems to have only really blown up on Spotify for some reason (and even there it peaked pretty early). It's still a great achievement for it to have made the top 20 but a little disappointing that it doesn't look like it'll be going any further than that.

Hopefully Burna Boy can go top 5 this week, he did rise 3 places last week between First Look and the final chart so being #6 already this week is a good sign. That's basically the only sort of interesting thing going on this week for me, although cool to see Pink Floyd with another brief appearance though I expect #18 on First Look isn't high enough for it to stay top 100.

as it was... seventeen going under... where did you go... about damn time... all on scr :hithead: so its at LEAST 3 weeks till the (very slim) chance we can get rid of them.

the acr rules really need to be looked at because so many songs are swerving and avoiding acr with the tiniest increases, the rule that was put in place to make the charts fresher is making them so stale

As It was and About Damn Time are doing really well on iTunes though...

So it’s not even like they are just being propped up by streaming. It’s still genuinely what people are buying as well as consuming.

Every week I hope for new songs but 2022 has been extremely stale. I think there needs to be an archive chart for songs more than 26 weeks old. So few new songs breaking through and therefore serves no purpose for promotion of music. Like 323 weeks for Mr Brightside, 128 weeks for Shotgun, 167 weeks for Someone you loved. 22 of last weeks top 100 in chart over half a year! And of course we have the 8 week period now of Christmas songs to come. It is brutal!

^^ We’ve morphed into the Billboard charts, it’s been debated to death but I’m not sure what the solution is as labels will actively pull out tricks to keep songs from swerving ACR where possible and at the end of the day the GP could seek out newer music rather than putting the same playlist on repeat.

Even songs that Spotify etc., place high on playlists sometimes don’t do much so it’s not all just down to them.

Get annoying some new songs come out take 2 months before do anything time happen got new song out. Official chart need go back draw boad work way out this mess.

December just Christmas songs take over

January get stilly reset old songs get mess Christmas songs go out

Weeknd wired one old songs 2 years go blinding light save your tears still around new songs flop.

Not Lot different music genres anymore dance and grim music and arfiobeat few pop songs get odd rock songs

I'm gonna predict that Last Last will be the next #1. Especially with a Dave remix supposedly coming out at some point.
Im thinking Harry Styles could be number 1 again in the albums, i cant see Travie Mc Coy, Mabel or Lizzo doing enough to outsell him or come close but id say album sales will be dire.

Travie McCoy won't be top 100, what a random name to even mention there :kink:

Am interested to see where black midi and Working Men's Club are today (although I trust nothing about the former after what happened with their last album #neverforget). I feel like beabadoobee might be the highest new entry? Lizzo and Mabel aren't doing much on streaming and I don't imagine they'll be massive pure sellers either.

edit: the top physical seller on Amazon among new releases actually appears to be Interpol, their last 4 albums have all made the top 10 so I could see them possibly being #1 this time at least in the mids

I was gonna say, I feel like Beabadoobee will chart higher than Lizzo or Mabel. Having said that, her last album only made #8. Does anyone have the opening sales figures for that?

I think Mabel will be high on the basis of all the formats, HMV shows and various other independent shows (ticket/CD bundles)

'Fake It Flowers' opened with just over 5k which tbf is lower than I thought so I may be overestimating her. The last Interpol album did 7k first week to debut at #6 in 2018. (And Mabel's debut did 9.7k first week, but I have a feeling she'll do worse than that this time given the singles have made very limited impact and she just doesn't really seem like she has that much of a fanbase, I might be wrong though. Lizzo is kind of an unknown entity as her previous album was a slow burner)

Confident ish in predicting we're just getting another week of Harry at #1 no matter what anyway.

Yeah, agreed that Harry will probably get another week at #1. 5k is lower than I thought for 'Fake It Flowers' too so actually I now have no idea how any of those new entries will fare against each other! I've got a sneaky feeling maybe Lizzo might surprise us?

Mabel bringing in the mass reductions - Signed CD £5.99, iTunes Download £4.99, Signed CD / Signed Cassette / Voicemail Message £12.99 etc., - so they could be close if they are pulling out all the stops now (or it’s flopping hard :kink: )
I'd also say Harry #1 in the end, Interpol highest entry, think Lizzo will underperform and Mabel possibly too

Hopefully Bea will manage higher sales this time, I could see her doing enough to grab a top 5 record at least which would be cool

Mabel probably has the best chance from the new releases since her team are going hard with the bundles, price reductions etc

Where are you looking for that I can’t see them on the best sellers rankings?
