December 9, 20222 yr And unfortunately I don't think general public care enough to do a Rage Against the Machine, save our Xmas no.1 campaign, this year. Kunts would have been an obvious choice if so.
December 9, 20222 yr Right now they only match The Beatles’ record of four Christmas #1 singles, I don’t blame them for trying to have the most now! I'd support someone breaking the Xmas #1 records if they were actually talented though x It's going to be so awkward if this comes up on a quiz show someday or something and they are asked who holds the records for most Christmas #'s with the answer being Ladbaby... yet no one knows any of their songs
December 9, 20222 yr OH NO HE BETTER F*KING DON'T! I HAVE PUT MONEY ON WHAM AND MARIAH AT GOOD ODDS! CAN THE PUBLIC PLEASE JUST GET A GRIP OF THEMSELVES THIS YEAR AND MAKE A DONATION DIRECTLY TO THE CHARITY INSTEAD OF ENCOURAGING THIS LUDICROUS WRINGING OF THE SAME TIRED OLD JOKE TO CONTINUE TOPPING THE CHART EVERY YEAR UNTIL THE END OF TIME?
December 9, 20222 yr That's the annoying thing is no one remembers the songs, in years to come people will have no clue of them so I'd hate to see them overtake the Beatles. Love or hate christmas songs such as Mariah and wham but everyone knows them.
December 9, 20222 yr Should probably move this to the Pop forum!Nahhhh. It's OK. This forum can keep it x
December 9, 20222 yr Cool. Okay. Death of culture continues due to the advocation of charity as the fixer of problems. But Christmas #1 was a lost cause years ago, it's not coming back until society is fixed. That's not an exaggeration.
December 9, 20222 yr Wasn’t LadBaby revealed as a Tory?? No thanks! What's that got to do with the price of fish? Yes legend, let's go for 5! Haha finally someone to redress the negative balance here! Personally I've got no strong views for or against. I'm past caring about who gets the xmas #1, I'm not as bothered about it as I used to be. I find Ladbaby inoffensive and if they want to try for a 5th time and raise some money for charity then fine, whatever. They obviously don't deserve to steal the record from the Beatles but it's hardly the crime of the century.
December 9, 20222 yr What's that got to do with the price of fish? It is relevant - I believe because of the guy's charitable stances. Charity, while not being a bad thing in of itself, is omnipresent throughout British society, far too much; charity is a failure of government to provide services essentially. Ladbaby's schtick is to give money to foodbanks, not to do anything about the causes of foodbanks. His 'rivals', the Kunts, are by targeting the government. There's a political dimension to this no matter how you look at it. (I don't know if the guy is a Tory at all but news reports on him vs the Kunts do put him into that sort of mindset - the sort who looks at the Kunts' vulgarity and turns their nose up at it, well... the news report from last year below shows that pretty clearly: Today (23 December) The Kunts have shared another statemeny clarifying yesterday's comments. In the new statement, The Kunts say they "agree" with Hoyle's comments "wholeheartedly" that it takes a certain person to download The Kunts' song. "It takes the sort of person that is prepared to look beyond the tepid diarrhoea that is pumped into people's consciousness via mainstream TV, radio and the tabloid newspapers," The Kunts continued. "The sort of person that is prepared stand up for what they believe in and call out the government on their lies, cover-ups and corruption. The sort of person who can see that it was the Conservatives' politics of selfishness, misery and deprivation that caused this country to need foodbanks in the first place." "Having had Mark Hoyle call our integrity and motivation into question, we acknowledge from the proceeds of last year's record we made large donations to charities including MIND mental health charity and Cardiac Risk In The Young, two causes that have affected our close family and friends," they wrote. "We may be vulgar in the language we use to get our point across but we would not be so vulgar as to use food banks to hawk records, increase our profile or sign lucrative sponsorship deals. Let me be clear, we would not stoop to using poverty, hunger and despair to promote our career and bolster our bank balance like we believe LadBaby have done in this year's and last year's Christmas Number One campaign.") It's actually kind of understandable people don't want to support people with political views that support the current government. If they're inoffensive, cool, but it's this inability to act, to accept the status quo as acceptable, that is rankling to some people.
December 9, 20222 yr ugh f*ck off pleaseeeee i hate them. hopefully this is the last one We've said that every year for the past 4 years  if only.
December 9, 20222 yr I think they'll keep going until they fail to make No.1. Sometimes it's best to stop when you're on top, rather than it looking like they gave up because it wasn't as popular anymore.

If they're inoffensive, cool, but it's this inability to act, to accept the status quo as acceptable, that is rankling to some people. Nice analysis, and of course we have the far more sinister cases of charity where some have turned out to be fronts for human trafficking or child abuse, so I'm always suspicious of charities to be honest, I'd hate to give money to help enable something so bad. Labour and Conservatives are honestly 90% (or more) the same as each other. So I wouldn't really get too wound up in who supports who. I remember in 2010 when it changed hands, I was really scared that I would become even poorer, but in the end pretty much nothing changed. It will be the same whenever it changes hands again. It's a waste of time getting so invested in it all. And yes, I had to use a food bank before, and I also had to live in supported housing for a while, and I am currently on Universal Credit, so nobody have a go at me telling me that "I don't know what it's like to be poor" please.

Sometimes it's best to stop when you're on top, rather than it looking like they gave up because it wasn't as popular anymore. Telling myself this will be the last one to beat the Beatles record, rather than just match it. If it is a Band Aid cover that that suggests a potential ensemble cast of supporting artists. Don’t know where he could go from there but down. If there was another genuine challenger fighting for #1 being blocked then I would care more, but most artists ignore the month now. Having said that, rooting for Wham or Mariah so they finally have the actual Christmas #1.
December 9, 20222 yr Cool. Okay. Death of culture continues due to the advocation of charity as the fixer of problems. But Christmas #1 was a lost cause years ago, it's not coming back until society is fixed. That's not an exaggeration. It’s like you asked me to reply to this: “Charity is a cold, grey, loveless thing. If a rich man wants to help the poor, he should pay his taxes gladly, not dole out money at whim.” Clement Attlee wrote that in 1920.

If they're inoffensive, cool, but it's this inability to act, to accept the status quo as acceptable, that is rankling to some people. Literally my thoughts exactly. The apolitical stance they take and continual lack of using his platform to hold the government to account (probably cos he's a millionaire so he's not affected much x) is actually not helping the situation at all outside of a one-off generosity. It continually happening for a new crisis every year and nothing changing in the interim is a depressing cycle, last year it was food banks, now it's the cost of living, at the rate he's going, we'll get Sausage Roll themed drought and flood relief songs when the effects of climate change take hold. The Kunts, though equally stale, can at least see what the real problem is and don't pitch themselves as saviours. Also it's so clearly become an ego trip for him. It was quite a cute if slightly cringe novelty the first few times, however unlistenable it was (the overreaction was kinda hilarious :kink:) and the pandemic one I will give him a pass as that was quite unprecedented, but last year's did show that it's going to his head a bit and he's using the charity angle to silence all criticsm, Ed Sheeran's involvement and a version of a song that had just come out only added to the cynical nature of it and criticising the Kunts revealed even more so.
