January 3, 20233 yr Also didn't realise Tiësto/Tate was doing that well! Would be very happy to see that become one of the big inevitable post Christmas dance hits! 10:35 would’ve been #18 on the current singles chart if it wasn’t for Xmas songs
January 3, 20233 yr Wow at Lady Gaga! Not a track I ever expected to see chart (pre-TikTok). Would love to see P!nk hold up, this track definitely deserves to get top 40.
January 3, 20233 yr Whitney also getting the benefit of her biopic I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY in cinemas at the moment. That combined with the fact it has become a NYE playlist standard means it could well return to the top 40 by Friday! Her best of album at #14 in midweek estimates would be a new peak for it too. Surprisingly, itnever peaked higher than #27 unlike her 2 previous multi platinum greatest hits collections so would be great to see it go higher!
January 3, 20233 yr Definitely not going to put much stock in this update with the likelihood of resets still being to come but at least good to see that SZA has actually overtaken Central Cee now. Fingers crossed for Stephen Sanchez and Lil Uzi Vert to stay top 40 (the latter may be touch and go depending on how resets play out if they happen, although it should overtake Whitney and The Killers I guess so that'll help). Yay at JVKE coming for a decent new peak too! I guess Stormzy is still doing well enough on Amazon to at least have a place in the top 100, fair enough. May even still be just about top 40, although I assume it'll drop from its current #29 position due to Amazon influence fading and not to mention any potential resets pushing it down. Sidemen look like they might be able to get another top 100 week too. I need to relisten to 'Bloody Mary' as I've not heard it for ages but I think I remember liking it - lol that it's coming to outpeak 'Hold My Hand' now. Sub Focus/Dimension apparently charting as high as #48 while not being top 200 on Spotify or top 100 on Apple  doesn't look like it has a notable 2nd version either so not sure what I'm missing there. Nice to see 'You're On Your Own, Kid' appearing for now though still half expecting 'Lavender Haze' and 'Snow On The Beach' to both get resets and end up knocking out the two new ones again. edit: actually 'Snow On The Beach' only had 8 top 100 weeks so it should still be on SCR, looks like it just finally fell behind those other two songs so 'Bejeweled' very likely to debut this week regardless of resets. 'Lavender Haze' I am assuming is on ACR at least for now though. Also oops looks like reports of Sam Ryder's album returning to #1 were a bit exaggerated. Fingers crossed he can still get another week top 10 at least anyway. More phonk in the charts with 'METAMORPHOSIS' by INTERWORLD at #86! Ooh, this has passed me by entirely like Kordhell did before appearing in the chart but intrigue. (Another interesting looking electronic song I've not heard of showing up at #87 as well - 'snowfall' by Øneheart and reidenshi)

Great to see it get a new top 20 peak if it holds on, it should also go platinum at some point this year.

Surprisingly, itnever peaked higher than #27 unlike her 2 previous multi platinum greatest hits collections so would be great to see it go higher! Glad it’s going to get a new peak however not surprising it didn’t do well, it was a Christmas cash in after she passed - by which point everyone had already got her previous GHs.
January 3, 20233 yr Expected but still brilliant to see RAYE & 070 Shake heading for their first no. 1s + SZA being up there is also great, take that Central Cee. Looking at the singles that are leading up to it and the fact that he scored 9 top 40s last year, it looks like Central Cee's debut album will be huge. Slightly surprised to see Rema & Selena so high, but a pleasant surprise. The video streams must be helping a lot. Great for Bugzy too, great choice of career switch-up. It is truly fantastic to see the entire top 5 consist of black music. As You probably know i'm really passionate about that. Also loving the Creepin pos!. Will expect it to probably overtake Unholy as well. Nice to see the whole Meghan Trainor hype is coming to a close, it truly is utter tripe. Remember, you can legally rip-off yourself. Would love to see Rich Flex return top 10, after years of nonsense from Drake it really is his comeback track that takes me back to IFRTITL era. Thanks 21. Would love it if Gaga could go top 10 one day as well. Same with Tiesto as well, possibly the best song from his DRIVE era so far, would also welcome a Tate return to the top 10. There are two mysteries: Dean Lewis being so high and Sub Focus & Dimension being so high. They just don't have the streams and are not selling well either. Tbh i'll be pretty angry if Shivers or Bad Habits return to the top 40.
January 3, 20233 yr :( Bbc1 neefs to playlist her again and ageism needs to stop! I agree. I remember when there were more artists in their 40s and 50s being playlisted by R1 and nowadays, you’re seeing young artists who aren’t even in their 40s yet being moved over to R2. Ellie Goulding being a prime example and yeah, R1 need to stop being ageist and trying to appeal to just youngsters
January 3, 20233 yr And Joel & Tom are at #42 so they could potentially re-enter if Whitney and the Killers drop out

Its also selective over wether or not they think it sounds commercial.
January 3, 20233 yr David Guetta & Tiesto still get playlisted but they are both in their 50's. Its also selective over wether or not they think it sounds commercial. They mostly have other artists on their singles, especially younger ones but it’s very rare for an artist of their age to have solo material playlisted on R1
January 3, 20233 yr Pat Smear of Foo Fighters is probably one of the oldest with new material, he was 61 when ‘Waiting On A War’ was playlisted. Of course, he’s not the “face” of the band, but Dave Grohl was still 52!
January 3, 20233 yr David Guetta & Tiesto still get playlisted but they are both in their 50's. Its also selective over wether or not they think it sounds commercial. Think it depends on how much their music appeals to 15-29 year olds Radio 1 heavily target. I can name quite a few acts over 40 they still heavily support so I don't feel they're as bad with this ageism thing as they were about 10 years ago.
January 3, 20233 yr it is a shame that Ellie Goulding is now considered to not appeal to young people anymore though Easy Lover and Let It Die do sound like hit singles, but of course aren’t because she’s no longer ‘relevant’ ..
January 3, 20233 yr Weird there's a song called Bloody Mary in the charts not long after the Ghost song was a hit.
January 3, 20233 yr Oh yes SPIT IN MY FACE! THXSOMCH  #73 today and looking good for a top 40 debut next week.
