Thanks to the 47 people who participated in last week's poll :jump:

Official results from week 4:

[ 25 ] Fall Out Boy - Love From The Other Side (#68)

[ 22 ] Luude and Issey Cross - Oh My (feat. Moby) (#99)

[ 15 ] Cat Burns - people pleaser (#78)

[ 11 ] Ed Sheeran - F64 (#50)

[ 10 ] Headie One - Martin's Sofa (#9)

[ 5 ] Ayra Starr - Rush (#92)

[ 3 ] DOMINIC BYRNE - Holy Water (feat. Abigail DB) (#97)

[ 2 ] D-Block Europe - Tears In My Amiri's (#58)

[ 2 ] Krept & Konan - Dat Way (feat. Abra Cadabra) (#80)

[ 1 ] Clavish - 4 Of Us (feat. Youngs Teflon, Rimzee and Tiny Boost) (#89)

BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2023 week 4 and auto-qualifying for the January monthly round is Fall Out Boy - Love From The Other Side.

The most surprising winner to date for me, after two dance songs and a pop song winning the first three polls we have our first rock winner courtesy of American pop-punk band Fall Out Boy's lead single from their forthcoming 8th album. 'Love From The Other Side' saw them return to their classic more guitar focused sound from before their hiatus (and not coincidentally delivering their best song for years in the process imo), and slid into the lower end of the top 75 which has been a sweet spot for them in the years since their last top 40 hit in 2014. I feel like we might have to wait a while to get a first winner representing the fourth of BuzzJack's genre forums.

This is also the first winner so far that wasn't also the highest new entry of the week - though Headie One performed admirably well for a UK drill song, just about managing double figure votes and finishing 5th for the week. A few votes behind Fall Out Boy in second place is Luude and Issey Cross' drum n bass update of Moby classic 'Porcelain', while there are also double figure votes in 3rd for Cat Burns after finally managing a second charting song and 4th for Ed Sheeran's freestyle rap tribute to the sadly departed SBTV founder Jamal Edwards. The other also-rans received between 1 and 5 votes each, Clavish at least avoiding the embarrassment of back to back entries with 0 votes.

Weekly winners to date:

01 // 12/01/23 // Sub Focus and Dimension - Ready To Fly

02 // 19/01/23 // Skrillex, Fred again.. and Flowdan - Rumble

03 // 26/01/23 // Miley Cyrus - Flowers

04 // 02/02/23 // Fall Out Boy - Love From The Other Side

~

We have another 10 songs this week, same as last week, although a shorter runtime of 31 minutes 20 seconds as we're back to all sub 4 minute songs (sub 2 minutes in the case of Baby Tate). Any voters for Luke Combs will be heavily judged. Think I can have a good guess at what 1st and 2nd will be this week but not sure beyond that!

Vote for as many or as few songs as you want and would be ideal if you can make sure you've heard all the songs before voting if possible!

Sorry this round is a day late oops but I should be free to post the next one on Saturday evening as usual so will keep that as the rough deadline :jump:

Will get the January monthly round up tonight too btw! Just need to crunch the numbers to figure out which songs are in it x
Voted P!nk (much better than NGNDA) and Freya. The SZA song, while not actually a snoozefest, would need to grow on me a lot to contend.

This has to be the weakest selection so far. I do quite like SZA's Snooze though so went for that.

Surely nobody will vote for that Mickey thing?

1. P!nk - TRUSTFALL

2. SZA - Snooze

3. Sam Smith, Calvin Harris and Jessie Reyez - I'm Not Here To Make Friends

4. Baby Tate - Hey, Mickey!

5. Freya Ridings - Weekends

6. Strandz - Us Against The World

7. KSI - Voices (feat. Oliver Tree)

8. Tom Grennan - Here

9. The Kid LAROI - Love Again

10. Luke Combs - The Kind Of Love We Make

I've voted for my top 3, though the Baby Tate song is fun too and has been stuck in my head all week, and Freya's song is nice too. Everything below that is a bit dull, definitely not a vintage week.

Voted for P!nk, Freya and of course Luke Combs :cheeseblock:

  1. 8/10 P!nk - TRUSTFALL (#59)
  2. 7/10 Freya Ridings - Weekends (#100)
  3. 7/10 Sam Smith, Calvin Harris and Jessie Reyez - I'm Not Here To Make Friends (#23)
  4. 6/10 Luke Combs - The Kind Of Love We Make (#83)
  5. 5/10 Strandz - Us Against The World (#65)
  6. 4/10 SZA - Snooze (#56)
  7. 4/10 Baby Tate - Hey, Mickey! (#82)
  8. 4/10 The Kid LAROI - Love Again (#18)
  9. 3/10 KSI - Voices (feat. Oliver Tree) (#11)
  10. 3/10 Tom Grennan - Here (#84)

Voted for my top three, which were the three I expected to going in. Didn't think Luke Combs would end up in my top five but the song is surprisingly decent.

Julian is off the Christmas card list. Dan on thin ice too. x

Just voting for P!nk this week. The Freya song has some great ingredients (disco tinged production + relatable lyrics) but the chorus is a bit overlong, so preventing me from properly stanning

01. P!nk - TRUSTFALL (#59)

02. Freya Ridings - Weekends (#100)

03. Sam Smith, Calvin Harris and Jessie Reyez - I'm Not Here To Make Friends (#23)

04. The Kid LAROI - Love Again (#18)

05. Strandz - Us Against The World (#65)

06. SZA - Snooze (#56)

07. Tom Grennan - Here (#84)

08. KSI - Voices (feat. Oliver Tree) (#11)

09. Baby Tate - Hey, Mickey! (#82)

10. Luke Combs - The Kind Of Love We Make (#83)

1 P!nk - TRUSTFALL [nice to finally hear a good P!nk song again! a Body Talk-era Robyn sound which you can't go wrong with]

2 SZA - Snooze [nice mellow vibe]

3 Sam Smith - I'm Not Here to Make Friends [that chorus is definitely a nod to Justice & Simian's We Are Your Friends right]

4 Luke Combs - The Kind of Love We Make [it's fine]

5 Freya Ridings - Weekends [a squarely 6/10 song]

6 Strandz - Us Against the World [the early noughties revival is underway i see]

7 The Kid Laroi - Love Again [more like mid laroi hahahahdsdsfdf]

8 Baby Tate - Hey Mickey [huh...]

9 Tom Grennan - Here [big time snore]

10 KSI & Oliver Tree - Voices [yeah this is pretty tragic]

1) SZA - Snooze | An incredible track from a fantastic album that will go down as a modern classic. Light 9/10

2) The Kid Laroi - Love Again | Pretty strong performance from Laroi here, imo better than Stay (a lot of his music is). Strong 7/10

3) Sam Smith, Calvin Harris & Jessie Reyez - I'm Not Here To Make Friends | A pretty smooth disco track here, would have been a breath of fresh air if Calvin had put it on "Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2"!

4) P!nk - Trustfall | Much better than NGNDA. Although sounds like a cheap version of "Stupid Love" by Lady Gaga. Strong 6/10

5) Strandz - Us Against The World | Giving me Hazey, SwitchOTR one-hit tiktok wonder vibes. Strong 5/10

6) Freya Ridings - Weekends | Not for me, way too generic dance-pop. I can see the impact Future Nostalgia has had on culture (Well Done Dua!!!) Light 5/10

7) Tom Grennan - Here | "What Ifs & Maybes" is shaping up to be worse than "Evering Road" imo. He should stop focussing on trying to chart with these bland cuts! Strong 3/10

8) Baby Tate - Hey Mickey! | On a normal week, this would've been last. Decent 2/10

9) KSI - Voices (feat. Oliver Tree) | Unfunny, cheesy attempt at a pop song. The worst song both artists have been a part of. Strong 1/10

10) Luke Combs - The Kind Of Love We Make | (*😔 *). Absolute Dog*****/10

I went for KSI, P!nk, Sam, Tom and Freya. Actually found them all ok, but only those 5 do I like enough to listen of my own choice. P!no’s is definitely the stand out here still.

Can’t seem to click with Snooze which is a shame as I have enjoyed all the other hits from SOS. Couldn’t hum it if I tried after repeated listens since album release.

A great week!

Pink, Baby Tate & Freya. Not a vintage week.

I voted for SZA & Strandz but none were really hitting me much. Definitely the weakest week of the year so far.

The Freya Ridings song was a lot better than her other 2 hits. I like Baby Tate's newer stuff but this one is a bit naff. I heard the Tom Grennan song last week and I don't remember anything about it at all.

Actually got round to listening to this week's. Already listened to 3 of which I really like P!nk and Freya. Strandz and Baby Tate the best of the others
