Just needed to release the pop album in 1999, another 4, taking them to 12, then release Tell Me Why/ IYWHSF dance versions in 2000, Hollier Q4 as usual, boom 14.

If they had released The Power Of Five as a double A-side with Stop then that would probably have gone to #1 and got them an extra one for the consecutive tally.

Just because Ed appears to be behind on the streaming charts, don't forget that Spotify, Amazon and Apple charts (and even the OCC streaming charts) don't take into account premium:freemium. Ed tends to do well on premium compared with freemium....

 

Regardless of whether he gets the #1 or not (he’s so chart savvy I’m assuming he’ll milk every sale he possibly can), it’s very clear he’s running out of steam

I don’t think physicals could even be enough, if he does manage around 10k physicals, hes very far behind Flowers on streaming, I think it could be closer than we think!

 

Didn’t one of his singles sell around 30k on CD single? The fact it’s still available on his official site and was also being sold on HMV which has now sold out could indicate he’s shifted a lot, also the video of him signing them there were literally piles and piles of them. He and his team know the 99p CDs work so he’ll put the time and effort into signing them.

I can't see past Ed doing it this week regardless, he'll do whatever it takes and pull rabbits out of hats because his ego won't let it rest otherwise.

Looking forward to seeing the sales gap between the top 3. I’m guessing Ed’s physical singles have already been counted.

I’m not sure if Ed is running out of steam or not. I do think the song isn’t one of his best and he hasn’t had much of a break for people to miss him. If it goes to number one, I hope it’s only for a week or so and not a long run. I’m here for Flowers to surpass Dance Monkey! But also for Miracle to have a spell at the top too…

Think he would of needed something alot more poppier to have a massive impact like he's had before - Bad Habits, Shivers, Shape of You etc.... This feels more Afterglow to me tbh, which did pretty well for the one off single it was, bit I wouldn't have launched a new album with it.

He’s obviously still massive but he’s definitely past his imperial phase. I don’t think this can really be compared to Afterglow as that was a random single whereas this is supposed to be a lead single, debuting at #5 on Spotify in his home country with a lead single is a pretty disastrous result for somebody as big as Ed!
