May 27, 20232 yr I've got this guy feeling Olivia could underperform but we'll see! I agree Taylor is the most likely to do it actually. Adele COULD but I think she'd actually just be shy of it even if she did release this year, same if Harry were to release.
May 27, 20232 yr I can see Taylor doing it. Speak Now TV has had more hype than any other album this year so far.
May 27, 20232 yr Here's hoping that it's coming to get its flowers! The online hype seems high, her Speak Now (Taylor's Version) instagram announcement post has over 10 million likes, versus 8 million for the Midnights one, plus TikTok users have taken 'Enchanted' under their wing. Definitely intrigued to see how Olivia's sophomore era is going to play out. I saw earlier that a June 30th date has been teased for new music so hopefully not too much longer to wait if that's true! True, it being one of her lesser known albums could actually work in its favour. It will be new to a lot of people I think. I thought it was one that would struggle to reach #1 back when she started doing these re-releases but she’s just on such another level now that nothing can be ruled out Edited May 27, 20232 yr by No Sleeep

She was always massive in the US but was never really that big in the UK. Her 2 recent acoustic album were not really that big either. She seems to be on another level now? It's weird how she is in her prime in her early 30s whereas before when you got over 30 female singers would lose relevance.
May 27, 20232 yr Whoever does do it next, needs to be a streaming force. There has been a clear absence of acts being able to have an album bomb like Harry and Taylor did last year. Disagree, even Ed at his peak streaming domination never did 100k streaming sales in a week which makes me sceptical that there will ever be a 100k-selling album that got there primarily on the strength of streaming, the important factor is being able to sell at least reasonably strongly in pure sales. (See Arctic Monkeys and Coldplay having recent 100k+ weeks without anywhere close to the streaming domination of the likes of Harry and Taylor). I voted yes in the poll and agree that it's most likely to be Taylor who manages it again, be it with Speak Now TV or another brand new album which I really don't think can ever be ruled out from her at this stage. But it was a pretty weak yes vote, would not exactly be shocking if Lewis Capaldi remains the best opening seller of the year.

Why has Olivia taken so long to release her 2nd album? Newer artists need to strike while the iron is hot or else they will be forgot about. Two and a half years since her debut single is way too long of a gap.
May 27, 20232 yr I agree I feel like Olivia has lost a lot of hype over her hiatus. But then I don’t know, I didn’t really know anything about her before Drivers License and that was massive so maybe I’m just not her audience. I’d be surprised if she came back with anything near as big as Drivers License or Good 4 U
May 27, 20232 yr SOUR has been top 40 every week since its release, I don't think Olivia's lost any hype at all. It only came out 2 years ago, that's a pretty normal gap and she was so huge among her target audience last time that I think whatever she does next will have a LOT of hype. I don't think newer artists necessarily need to churn the music out that quickly, especially if they were so huge first time round. Almost three years elapsed between Dua Lipa's albums, and Lewis Capaldi took FOUR years between albums, almost selling 100k in week 1! It didn't harm either of them because they were so big first time around that there was an appetite for new stuff regardless, especially with the old stuff still being streamed so well. To answer the question, I'm not so sure. I don't think Speak Now TV will be quite as big as a 100k+ seller (bear in mind it doesn't have the "clock" concept of Midnights with 4 variations to boost sales, not to mention it not being as big as Red first time around despite it being a fan favourite). I'd love for it to sell as much as possible though as it's my favourite Taylor album and one of my fave albums ever  I think a brand new Taylor album would be more likely to achieve it, though I'm not sure if one will arrive this year. Olivia could perhaps. I'll tentatively vote yes though cause we never know what might appear x

It's weird how she is in her prime in her early 30s whereas before when you got over 30 female singers would lose relevance. She's simply just growing, still. folklore and evermore opened her up to a whole new set of music listeners, the re-recordings introduced newer fans to her old music, and Midnights seems to be what has really shot her popularity through the roof. People love the album, and now the tour is huge and people are desperate to get a piece of it after seeing videos etc on social media. Ultimately, she has kept hold of her older fans and has not forgotten to keep 'recruiting' new ones. And we all LOVE her. It's wonderful to see that she's actively changing the norm of, as you said, female singers over 30 decreasing in relevance.
May 28, 20232 yr I voted yes. A big release in Q4 will surely do it such as Taylor Swift or maybe even Kylie.
May 29, 20232 yr I voted yes. A big release in Q4 will surely do it such as Taylor Swift or maybe even Kylie. As much as I'd love her to, Kylie won't do it. She has not threatened 100k weekly sales since the early/mid 2000 decade. She will hopefully manage about half of that with 50k but I can see her doing around 30-40.

She will hopefully manage about half of that with 50k but I can see her doing around 30-40. Kylie did 54k first week with Disco. I've a feeling that Tension will actually do slightly more, although nowhere near 100k, perhaps 60k.
May 29, 20232 yr I think Taylor, Adele and Harry are the only acts that can manage 100k first week sales now, but I doubt Adele and Harry will be releasing anything new this year. Speak Now I can see just clearing the 100k mark, it wasn’t really that well known the first time round so re-releasing it off the back of midnights it’ll have much bigger sales I’d have thought than Red. But In future it looks very much in doubt that this can keep happening unless the chart rules are changed for the streaming ratios.
May 29, 20232 yr As far as I can see there is only 1 vinyl version x Speak Now, so cannot compare to Midnights with all those versions and the clock and all. So just cos of that I think she won't cross the $00K mark unless she releases more versions. Plus don't think Speak Now has the same pull as 1989 would have. 1989 TV could do crazy numbers if that is released in Q4. I think Olivia could do it too. Sure they will come back with something strong, the label won't allow otherwise, and the anticipation/demand is Taylor-esque so 100K will be easily achieved I think.

She will hopefully manage about half of that with 50k but I can see her doing around 30-40. I said ‘maybe’. Depends how big padam padam goes really but I think she’ll sell more than disco as that came out in lockdown and there will be a lot of interest in the album.
May 31, 20232 yr I don't see Taylor selling 100k of the Speak now re-release. It will likely go to #1 but I can't see her doing 100k with a re-release in this day and age.
October 3, 20231 yr Author Nearing the end of the year and Taylor is looking like the only (announced release ofc) one who could potentially do it. I'm a little unsure in all honesty (I think it can but not sure). But she has gone all out with the variants (on both formats this time - different CD's AND vinyl as opposed to just one of them) so we'll see. I pray she can though as '1989' is one of my favourite albums of all time and I cannot wait to stop giving towards the stolen version (as much as I love it!)
