Will double check everything else quick xΒ New Lexico deserved better!
June 1, 20232 yr 10 voters, not too bad. Wasn't hoping or expecting to qualify too much with this one, but loving it far too much at the moment to not try and introduce a band with such a small following to more people. Given the combined YouTube views and Spotify listeners was a total of about 150 pre-contest, that's a decent increase! Β Have to be happy that all of my votes qualified. Of the 15 songs I considered for points only Harmonica (ranked 12th) didn't qualify.

June 1, 20232 yr Thank you for seeing me through! had felt pretty safe but always nice to get confirmation for sending a slightly offbeat band like this one - sending their old ska would have probably been way more risky.Β Only losing 2 from my votes is doing quite a bit better than I had imagined, Rolloland was quite a... turn of an entry, I enjoyed it and Danaeviia missing out, unfortunate. Both 21st placers this month are unfortunate, very good song from Harmonica too.

I am really happy and relieved to qualify with it! :w00t: Β Not so sure if you would call it a risk, but it did feel that way for me. Even though I'm not usually that scared of taking a risk now and then, I would be much less inclined to take risks if it almost never paid off, so it's highly encouraging to experience success when I do.Β Also, I think everyone I voted for qualified, which is super duper nice! :cheer:
June 1, 20232 yr The Harmonica and Land of DW DNQ streaks continue! I'm actually not that upset this time, I mean yeah it's a disgrace but 21st in the semi is literally my best result of the year so far, so it at least feels like I'm on the right track :lol:Β I'm still shocked at Fljotavik DNQing, I enjoyed that more than I thought I would. Wholune is the only other fave I lost, but that was less of a surprise. :( Semi 1 was okay quality-wise but I'm hoping my 18 will come from Semi 2. Thanks Kath for hosting!
June 1, 20232 yr Actually thought the New Lexico song was alright as far as country entries go.Β 'Bad List' really did not sound like an Aelandor entry at all! (not really massively my thing oop, I did like it a bit more as it went along though and still a lot better than the last Aelandor entry)Compare it to "Military Fashion Show" - And One (or even "Glow"- Ashbury Heights) and it might sound a lot more like one of mine, it's industrial synth pop. It just has the vocals and attitude you wouldn't usually expect in that genre but that's also kind of what made it stand out to me.Β Her other songs are a lot grungier and almost wish I'd tried one of those now because I was really torn on which one to send but I'm really surprised to DNQ. Maybe it was a bad semi for me idk but really thought I had a gem with cross appeal this time, and I liked it enough to listen on repeat when I discovered it.Β Me aside; this was a moderate disaster. I lost like half my votes. Raging the one time I get on board with Aelendor nae f***er else doesOof, maybe lightning will strike twice. :lol: Β Thanks for the 10. :wub:

But yes I guess that was just a kneejerk reaction to the vocals, I will give it another listen and see if I pick up more on the other elements of it. Sorry if that comment came across a bit reductive.Β I guess you must have been doing at least something right to get solid points from both Terra Avium and RΓ©publique d'Γskorza :thinking:
