The 3 track rule is for individual artists whereas this is a compilation/soundtrack. Someone feel free to correct me if the 3 track rule has happened before on a soundtrack

The 3 track rule has applied for any Cast Recording soundtracks (The Greatest Showman, Encanto etc) which I don’t think it should really.

Looks like the 3 track rule doesn’t apply to Barbie. As long as streaming doesn’t contribute to it, that would be great too

:banghead:

did 3 track rule apply to black panther? just out of curiosity

I think there was only 2 tracks in the Top 100 the week after the film came out (Lift Me Up and Con La Brisa) so it's hard to tell if it would've been included or not

So Little Things might be doomed to an #11 peak but that atrocious Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice song is going top 10?

Gahhhhh.

"Original Cast/Broadway Recordings" would be limited. (The Greatest Showman, Mamma Mia, La La Land etc..)

Songs by various artists for soundtrack compilations won't be limited. (Barbie, Black Panther, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse etc..)

It's really quite simple.

(And in comes someone to say that it's really not that simple coz *insert a random movie* was affected etc... and I'm just completely wrong or something :selena:)

Gahhhhh.

Quality wins, I don't make the rules x

Well it shouldn’t contribute as it’s a various artists compilation

He's told you several times, it doesn't contribute to the album...

What are you not reading or understanding?

I thought it did. It did contribute to the Spider-Man soundtrack which is various artists and it contributed to Eurovision 2023 which is a various artists compilation

Does it really matter whether there are multiple Barbie soundtrack songs in the chart, no. I'm not a fan of The Ken Song or 'What Was I Made For' but there we go.

I’m not bothered if the Barbie songs clog up the top 40, I’m bothered if streaming contributes to its album sales as it’s a various artist compilation

Well this is where I got confused.

I assume albums for an original product will have it’s streams counted but on a compilation of hits (like the Now series) streaming doesn’t count?

This is correct.

Yes, that's right. You would think Hadji, the only person in the known universe who actually cares about the compilation chart, would understand this by now xx

Much as that remake of Barbie Girl is cacophony, it does delight me seeing Aqua's name in the top 10 (although by the same token also irks me they're associated with it)
