The Beatles are on course for their first No.1 single in 54 years.

 

Their new hit Now And Then has sold more than 30,000 copies since it was released on Friday.

 

The Fab Four are set to battle for top spot with South Korean boy band star Jungkook.

 

The BTS singer, 26, released Standing Next To You on Saturday. But he only has sales of 7,000.

 

The Liverpool legends last topped the UK charts in 1969 with The Ballad Of John And Yoko.

 

Now And Then was written by John Lennon and recorded in 1977. It was left unfinished after he was murdered in 1980.

 

Sir Paul McCartney, 81, and Sir Ringo Starr, 83, reworked the track listing. used AI.

Paul said: "In the studio we had John's voice in our ears so you could imagine he was in the next room. It was joyful."

 

Fourth member George Harrison died in 2001.

 

30k is for the last three days I presume? that seems promising as they’re holding up well enough on streaming to add the 10k more it’ll need to maintain number one for the week.

I’d guess 30k is the first look sale rather than the Monday update as 7k seems too little for Jung Kook for all 3 days, but we’ll see.

A few hundred more downloads isn’t going to get Jung Kook anywhere near #1, though it will help him to hold on in the top 5.

I know I’m in the minority but I really want Prada to nab a week at the top, it’s now looking like next week is it’s best chance, should be Prada vs dua Lipa next week I would imagine

Had not considered Oasis as a contender for the #1 album! Interested to see how far ahead they are... that album didn't get #1 on its original release so if it hangs on Oasis will join the list of artists to have new #1 albums in the 90s, 00s, 10s and 20s.

 

Surprised to see Jung Kook ahead of Cliff as well, how can people resist the beautiful graphic design of the Cliff album?!

Nice to see a resurgence for the 1 compilation! I wonder if it'll get a re-release if 'Now And Then' gets to #1 :lol:

A Beatles / Oasis chart double would be fantastic!

Would love to see Oasis at #1! It's a shame to see The Struts as low at #39 (and will probably drop quite a lot), their last one in 2020 years ago to to #11. Not too surprised though, they were with BMG then and had a Soccer Aid performance with Robbie Williams and Radio 2 support.

The Oasis Blood Records exclusive was limited to 15,000 and they sold out 2-3 weeks ago so expected a decent opening figure but guessing it will fade over the week.
