Baby don’t hurt me is overhated imo. It’s not good but it’s not as bad as it’s made out to he. Chemical is a bop, same for little things, even if both I wouldn’t play on my own accord

yay for 'Little Things' making it! One of my own chart hits of the year.

A few songs from the pre-session (only caught the last few songs - thanks for hosting guys!) also made my own chart - 'Relax My Eyes', Rush', 'Hell N Back', 'Out Of Nowhere', 'Desire', 'Padam Padam', '0800 HEAVEN', bad idea right?', 'TRUSTFALL', 'Ready To Fly' and 'Now And Then' - only one of these made my own EOY top 100 though.

How tf are songs that didn't even chart or have any real relevance this year, chart higher than decent running top 20 hits from the year? Streaming calculations are a fucking mess. LMAO!

EDIT: Oh wait are they songs that *may* have charted somewhere if ACR didn't exist?

Cannot believe she put out this bop and the awful say another day in the same year
At least it looks like 'Little Things' has kept the highest peak!

ACR obviously dulls the impact of the older songs, but their full SCR totals are counted for EOY purposes and they maintain a consistent run of streams through the year. It's a bit irritating for EOY purposes sadly :drama:

Biography

Dozens of British artists share Adele’s origins—BRIT School, MySpace, pop stardom—but it takes rare talent to have your voice declared timeless in your career’s first flush. Adele honed hers as a kid in her North London bedroom, imitating Etta James every night for an hour. But as soon as she made her televised debut in 2007 (on Later...With Jools Holland), all potential comparisons evaporated: This girl with the whopping hoop earrings and a pub landlady’s brashness had something unique. Heartbreak, indignation, and regret all found a natural home in her regal mezzo-soprano, the instrument that powered her 2008 debut album, 19, and took influence from the American South on 2011’s 21. Both of these albums broke records for breaking records, and made a subsequent operation on Adele’s vocal cords a matter of global import. She recovered immaculately—for proof, watch her comeback performance of “Rolling in the Deep” at the 2012 Grammys—and it took just one word to reintroduce her in 2015. “Hello,” she sang during an X Factor ad break, unveiling her world-conquering single and third album, 25, in the process. Like its predecessors, 25 upended 21st-century metrics and made Adele the first artist to earn the top-selling album of a calendar year three times. She’s now a mother and wife, and the agony of twenty-something heartbreak is well behind her. But if any voice were ever capable of carrying its owner into maturity, it’s hers. - iTunes

Biography

The mid-2000s saw no lack of garage-rockin’ skinny-jeaned upstarts vying to join The Strokes and The Libertines on the cover of the NME. But not only were Sheffield’s Arctic Monkeys able to whip up a media frenzy worthy of their heroes, they managed to thoroughly transcend it and become a rock institution unto themselves. Only 16 when he founded the band in 2002, singer/guitarist Alex Turner swiftly established himself as a songwriter of uncommon wisdom and wit, helping make the band’s scrappy 2006 salvo, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, the fastest-selling debut album in UK history. If that record suggested Turner was a natural inductee to the Ray Davies/Paul Weller/Damon Albarn school of British pub-rock philosophers, the Monkeys refused to settle for being a homegrown phenomenon and set their sights on global domination. By 2009’s Humbug, they were seeking riff-thickening advice from producer Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, while their 2013 blockbuster, AM, cracked the US Top 10 with the sort of sing-along stompers (“Do I Wanna Know?”, “R U Mine”) naturally suited to the festivals they routinely headlined. But once they established themselves as one of the world’s biggest rock bands, the Monkeys proved they could be among its most adventurous, too: On 2018’s glam-jazz concept album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, Turner weaves a complex sci-fi narrative to address real-world woes like capitalism and media addiction, keeping his feet on the streets even as his band now orbit the stars. - Apple Music

Biography

“I hate the beach, but I stand in California with my toes in the sand.” When The Neighbourhood’s Jesse Rutherford sang that line on his band’s 2013 alt-pop earworm, “Sweater Weather” he was doing more than just hinting at his preference for long-sleeved tops—he was positioning his group as the go-to soundtrack to your endless summer bummer. Released two years after The Neighbourhood formed in the L.A. suburb of Newbury Park, “Sweater Weather” was perfectly acclimated to a moment when songs like Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” and Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” were blurring the lines between moody alternative rock and ebullient Top 40 pop. While The Neighbourhood may have initially looked the part of the tattooed, leather-clad, five-piece hipster rock band, they became evermore fluent in the language of modern R&B and rap: They followed their platinum-selling debut, I Love You., with the trap-inspired mixtape #000000 & #FFFFFF, featuring cameos from YG and French Montana, while the dramatic 2015 anthem “R.I.P. to My Youth” sees Rutherford channelling the self-flagellating antihero confessionals of The Weeknd. Their 2020 release, however, heralded not just a radical change in sound but in persona: Taking a page from the Sgt. Pepper / Ziggy Stardust playbook, Chip Chrome & The Mono-Tones outfits The Neighbourhood with a silver-painted alien alter ego in service of a bold, MGMT-esque fusion of glam, electro and psychedelia. - Apple Music
