June 12, 20241 yr really hope Charli can hold ahead of Taylor (and Bon Jovi but they'll be less of a threat I imagine), she very much deserves it given the album's quality and critic acclaim surprised at Eminem maintaining such a lead in the singles but I suppose it's about time he had a song last two weeks at the top (I expect the new Sabrina song will overtake next week but is way too far behind to do so now) Nate Dogg getting a posthumous top 40 smash on a deep house song *_*

June 12, 20241 yr I hope Charli manages the #1! *_* Honestly, with Taylor it feels like she has such a monopoly being able to do as she does. And sure other artists could do it, but there is quite frankly no other artist that can compare to Taylor's level of dedicated fanbase! So whilst other artists could replicate what she's doing to keep their album numbers higher in subsequent weeks it won't be anywhere near the level she is doing. Interested to see if Taylor can manage 5+ albums in the top 10 in the coming weeks. Particularly the week she plays her wembley shows!
June 12, 20241 yr Not too surprised to see 'Houdini' pulling ahead of 'Espresso', it appeared to be slightly underperforming on Spotify compared to other platforms last week (was well ahead from the first mids despite initially debuting behind Sabrina on Spotify and then only barely being ahead of her the next couple of days) so makes sense that the gap between them is still being made up by other platforms, he's still #1 on Apple and no doubt still crushing on YouTube. 'Please Please Please' has very slightly closed the gap since Monday though so looks like it has a good chance of going to #1 next week. Still a glimmer of hope that Charli might get the #1 album but I'm not going to hold my breath. Happy to see her passing 20k already anyway, a good improvement on the opening of 'CRASH'. I wonder how much longer Taylor's team plans to drag out this dripfeed CDs/formats strategy. I get that if the demand for it is still there they might as well keep it going but it's really tiring at this point. It's not like the album wouldn't still be having a great run even without these gimmicks.
June 12, 20241 yr Eminem's lead has incresed by a few thousand, it looks like. He's still miles ahead on YouTube streams and is #1 on both iTunes and Apple Music, so that's probably why. Looks like he'll just about hold on to #1 for another week.
June 12, 20241 yr Unless I overlooked something when looking through my playlist of #1 album tracks, I think if Charli xcx gets #1 this'll be the first time we've ever had 4 new #1 albums in a row by all-female acts! There was a run of 5 #1 albums in 1989 that included 3 groups with female singers, 1 female solo artist and a cast ensemble with female vocalists on most of the album's songs (Transvision Vamp, Soul II Soul, Gloria Estefan, the cast of Aspects Of Love and Eurythmics), then a run in 2009-2010 where 11 out of 16 new #1 albums were by either female solo artists or groups with female singers and there's another run of 4 if you include cast ensembles with prominent female members again (Vera Lynn, Muse, Madonna, Paramore, Barbra Streisand, Editors, Alexandra Burke, Cheryl Cole, JLS, Leona Lewis, Susan Boyle, Michael Bublé, Florence + The Machine, Alicia Keys, Glee Cast, Ellie Goulding). Those were the only runs of 4 in a row I could find that didn't include at least one male solo artist or all male group. (edit: not counting 'Various Artists' #1 albums from before the inception of the compilations chart anyway, there are probably other runs of 4+ #1 albums with at least some female representation if you count those x)
June 13, 20241 yr I heard the Raye pt 2 on spotify and she really messed up with the whole long ass version and unnecessary stuff because if she just fine tuned the part 2 it could have been a stable hit on its own.
