charli restocked signed cds, vinyls and cassettes yesterday! And as much as ttpd is my fave album of the year brat is great too, and id love charli to make it to #1 this week! hoping for a charli/taylor/bonjovi top 3 in that order as the BJ album is the weakest of the3 imo

It’s not unfair to say Taylor is definitely pushing the limits with the amount of tricks up her sleeve lol, surely it’s a matter of time until Billboard change the rules somehow to limit the amount of chart eligible variants? It’s way more “manipulative” than tour bundles ever were, so for the sake of consistency they should clamp down on this too. It does make her look just a bit desperate to stay at #1 when she’s already so incredibly successful, what does it matter if she has 5 weeks at #1 or 6/7/8?

I imagine if Bon Jovi sold 150k signed CDs and released them 25k at a time to hold down the Number 1 spot for 6 weeks people might indeed find that a little tiresome.

I love Taylor, I love the album but it is greedy. I'd be side-eyinf any of my faves, to think she cares is fairly naive lmao, she cares about the money sure! But I don't think caring about her fans all that much is part of it. Her tour is hardly accessible for those on a lower income for example.

Yeah, this is pretty much my opinion. I am a fan and I think she's super talented and a very smart businesswoman but she's clearly exploiting her fans at this point. Whether those fans actually care about being exploited is another matter!

I've seen her getting plenty of shit from her own fans for this strategy. It's not an unreasonable thing to criticise.

Her discography is hit and miss for me overall but I respect her talent and popularity. When Hadji was suggesting the mere presence of the album in the top 10 was making the charts slow I said that was daft.

 

But I find it difficult to believe that some new signed copies appearing every time someone else is looking like getting the #1 is all because she cares about the fans so much. It’s for the pound signs and the chart position. She/her team are very on the ball when it comes to marketing and bleeding dry to make money.

I’m not convinced Bon Jovi or very many acts for that matter could command 25k a week in signed formats - multiple versions with signed art cards have been available on his site all week and still available.

 

Taylor is in a league of her own where she has a big enough fanbase that will snap up releases - I bought my first copy this week of the signed bundle and others have too, she can shift units to the GP outside of her core fanbase.
